Darkest Timeline AU Flashback Meme

DARKEST TIMELINE AU FLASHBACK MEME

Did you work out something for your character's darkest timeline AU that you love so much it would be an absolute crime not to be able to write it out for real? WHAT LUCK! This meme is here for all your flashback-from-the-future needs. It's also the place to display sad single-character vignettes, letters that were never sent to dead friends, and anything else your dastardly little heart desires. Go forth and suffer.

The contents of this meme do not count for AC. For AC, you must participate in the real logs for the event, which will take place in Cloudreach 9:48, or else continue your normal non-event RP in the present (Guardian 9:43). However, you can count log threads in this meme toward your rewards points for the month.

Korrin's not there, not in person. After Taas' funeral, she went back up north to throw herself into fighting the Qunari. Each one she killed, she partly did it for him. That almost neverending action keeps her at least functional, but the rare quiet moments wear at her soul. It's all too easy to relive those awful moments, go over them again and again and wonder if there was anything at all she could have done. That Cyril must be in a similar state hasn't escaped her mind, either. She knows what Taas meant to him, as well.

So while there isn't an immediate response to the singing, she'll get there after a bit, paranoia causing her to lock it down just in case. No one knows just who else might be listening in, these days.

"Nice singing voice. I don't think I've heard the crystals used like that in a long time."

Korrin's voice is comforting and he's pleased to know that she's still alive, at least for now. It takes some of the edge off of his grief. It's strange how he was never really worried that she would hate him for what he had done, despite how much she had cared for Taas. He knew that she'd be one of the few to fully understand that choice.

"I know, I'll have to be careful. Sina might think this is an invitation to start preforming on them and then anyone spying on us through them will get to listen to her singing about how much she hates bathtime." It might be funny when worded that way, but he wanted any spies to have as little information about her as possible.

That it had to happen at all tore at her heart, but there was some comfort in knowing how Taas met his end by someone who cared about him. It would have been worse to give their enemies that victory. They have gained so much in Thedas, but at least they were denied that.

Cyril's words get a chuckle out of her; faint and brief, but a chuckle all the same. "We could do with a few more songs, however silly. I'd listen to it over a private channel." You know, in between all the Qunari-killing. "I...should come south again, help the Inquisition more directly. From what I've heard, it's not improving any."

"It's not," Cyril agrees, not the type to sugar coat things any more. "At least moving underground means we have a safe place for Sina for a bit, but the dwarves were eventually fall, just like the rest of them, unless something happens to stop them."

Blunt is just fine with Korrin, as always. "It's been a minor miracle we even made it this far. Denerim should have fallen by now, same with Orzammar. If the vints don't do it, the Qunari will. We've been trying to hold them back, but I swear for every dreadnought taken out, two more pop up. I'm...I'm glad Taas isn't seeing that for himself."

While his end isn't what Korrin would wish on nearly anyone, at least he won't get to witness his former people barrel their way south.

Cyril is quiet for a long moment at that. He feels this weird ache in his chest.

"I'm sorry, Korrin," he says after a moment, and he isn't even sure what he's apologizing for.

She sighs heavily, beyond weary at the constant war they're obviously losing. "I'm sorry, too. It's strange that the world was a lot simple when we just had the hole in the sky to worry about, isn't it? Not all this extra shit.

...any news about that so-called Herald? Does she still have her head?" Because if so, Korrin would be happy to fix that.

"Sadly, she does. If I could, I'd blow up all of Val Royeaux to strip her of it, and yet they tend to frown upon ending civilian life..." He's grateful for the subject change. He'd rather not dwell on what he's lost.

"What I wouldn't give to be there if she's taken down. But let me guess, she's untouchable. The real Herald didn't die for this shit." That weariness fades a little, replaced by venom. She remembers the true Herald of Andraste and the sacrifice made. To see someone else corrupt that boils her blood like little else.

"No, she didn't and yet it's still happening." He felt as if there was a headache settling into his head. "We'll just have to figure out how to kill this one and have her join the real one."
gatheringstorm: (let's dance)

"That I'd throw myself into wholeheartedly. Whatever the odds, she needs to go down. Thedas may be fucked, but we can still take her with us." At this point, she's of the mind that the only thing that matters is how spitefully they end it. And the Vashoth mage has enough spite to go around, in spades.
samahl: (scarred; haunted)

[personal profile] samahl 2017-02-01 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe wait to try though, I don't know if I want to lose you too so close to..." He trails off a bit. "Everything," he ends, a bit lamely.
gatheringstorm: (humoring you)

[personal profile] gatheringstorm 2017-02-01 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
There's warmth in her voice as she responds, mustering up enough energy to sound something more than 'bone tired and depressed'. "Don't worry, I'm not planning to be a martyr. That's a last resort, not a first. As long as there are still people to protect, I'm not going to be as much of a reckless asshole as I could be. But that better go for you, too."
samahl: (scarred; irritate)

"Oh you know me. I have to get back home to Sina," he says it with certainty. "Besides, I have Anders looking out for me right now. He'll totally heal me if I need it."
gatheringstorm: (resting bitch face)

[personal profile] gatheringstorm 2017-02-01 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a faint digusted noise at mention of Anders; she still despises him, but given the state of Thedas, he's not exactly a priority for her. "Good. I'll try to bring as many resources with me whenever I get the chance to come south again...maybe a couple of toys, too. Can't leave that all up to the dwarves."
samahl: (scarred; tilt)

[personal profile] samahl 2017-02-12 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
He accepts that, but there are still few who handle spirit healing as well as him. Briefly, Cyril wonders if Sam would have been as impressive by now, but that just adds to the ache in his chest.

"I'd really like that," he said instead, accepting the change in subject easily. "I'm sure Sina would too. There's only so much she can do with the resources she has now."
