Waver had had this reunion all planned out in his head. What he'd say when Rider stepped out of that summoning circle, how he'd embrace his king, all of it. Now he could only feel himself prick at Rider's commentary, but in the best way possible.

"I remember!"

In a moment, Waver was on his feet to prove just by tall he was. "And of course I'm Waver Velvet, idiot! Who else do you think I'd be?"

It felt so natural to fall into that patter, even if Waver had long stopped using it in most areas of his life. He wasn't nineteen anymore, he was twenty nine and that was the only time he'd indulge that particular phase of his life.
