A person with such ears is an elf, not a human. The difference might seem minor, but has an enormous impact on Thedosian society, as elves are a marginalized people. Humans often refer to elves as such in an attempt to deem us lesser, as they call qunari 'oxmen' for their horns. There are worse terms than 'rabbit', though.
