She looks as strange to Diwaniya as she does to the Thedosians--possibly more so; his people aren't much for variation in their uniform, but the shard does indeed override anything else that might give him pause about her appearance. It's the only thing since his traumatic arrival that's made him feel like his nerves aren't all trying to jump out of his body at once.

Her tone is familiar, too, as a fellow researcher's would be, and it inclines him to trust her ever so slightly more than these other strangers. He frowns, glancing from her shard to his and back again, and then up at her eyes through that odd framework she wears on them.

"You seem to imply that a way to remove it does exist, then," he says, "even if it's more complex. But you still have yours. Are there benefits to keeping it?"
