In the Dragon Age games, as you travel Thedas with your best pals, they have a lot of short conversations about politics, the weather, butts, etc. So this is the Fade Rift equivalent, in four easy steps!

1. Imagine your characters are on a very long walk toward a mission objective, or on a very long walk back after kicking ass, or standing guard together, or gathering herbs, or working in the library late at night, or something. Anything sort of boring that might make people want to have a dumb conversation just to break things up a bit.

OPTIONAL ASSISTANT: Since so many people reported being out of it, we made a random generator to help you come up with some general banter prompts for your top-levels.

2. Post a few remarks your character might say (similar to TFLN, except spoken out loud and less ridiculous and sexy, maybe. maybe not. we don’t know your life) while passing the time.

3. Tag around to reply to those general remarks or to start new/wildcard conversations! Threads should be pretty short and involve minimal action; there’s no need to turn anything into a big production. Multiperson threads are encouraged. Series of conversations between the same two characters occurring on different days are also encouraged.

4. Gather up all of your little conversation snippets like a bouquet and keep them forever, because they’re game canon. Banter threads can't be used for Base AC, but do count towards AC Rewards points.

By stopping it from ending, and unless you mastered advanced physics and time theory in between your many parties, the real explanation's beyond you. Are you somehow incapable of answering questions?

I answer plenty of questions. But how altogether charming. Can you do it here? Save this world? We're in ever so much danger.

I am not sure what they're for, but we needed more herbs.

[ Rather than just tell her, he clears his throat and starts to sing so she might hear the words and the tune at once. ]

[Laura listens intently--and as he demonstrates the gestures and steps, she hastens to copy them. Her versions don't have any real grace to them; they're mechanical, a clockwork doll's imitation.]

[ It's been a while since he's had to recall every verse, but it's not a complex arrangement. ]

[And she does all the moves with him, all the way to the end. Once they both straighten up from their final bows, and she's certain the song is over--]

Yes, it is generally used to teach children, I believe. But sometimes I find it stuck in my mind and the only way to dislodge it is to sing.

Tidy, is how I would describe it. And stressed, of course, but in a way one might hope a marriage would relieve.

Come now, Speaker. That is hardly in the spirit of the game.

...What are they supposed to learn?

You have met Warden von Skraeder, have you not?

And what of it?

I suppose how to bow and curtsy, and the different forms of address. Maybe even to dance, though actual steps seem rather scarce in the verse.

[libratus]

She carries quite a lot of knives -- and those are only the ones in plain sight.

[unshut]

One should never show fear in the face of danger, Speaker.

I prefer never to be untruthful about my emotions, Mrs. Fitcher.

Nor to give formidable women who already dislike me any more reason to do so.
