PARTY BANTER MEME

In the Dragon Age games, as you travel Thedas with your best pals, they have a lot of short conversations about politics, the weather, butts, etc. So this is the Fade Rift equivalent, in four easy steps!

1. Imagine your characters are on a very long walk somewhere, or on a very long walk back after kicking ass, or standing guard together, or gathering herbs, or working in the library late at night, or anything else sort of boring. You can provide context if you'd like, like "[ On the way back from Antiva: ]," but it isn't mandatory.

2. Post a few different remarks your character might make—similar to TFLN, except spoken out loud and less ridiculous, maybe, or maybe not, I don’t know your life—while passing the time.

3. Tag around to reply to those general remarks or to start new/wildcard conversations! Threads should be pretty short and involve minimal action; there’s no need to turn anything into a big production. Threadjacking to create multiperson conversations is encouraged (unless someone says not to). Multiple different conversations between the same characters occurring on different days are also encouraged.

4. Gather up all of your little conversation snippets like a bouquet and keep them forever, because they’re game canon.

A little blood is when you prick your finger with a needle.

Yes. [ River thinks it's important to know where the important people of current history are from. As if it could glean some further understanding of what makes them heroic. ] Divided into a billion shards of glass, each one buried in a new soul.

That's what she thinks He has done.

Yes.

[ And, like, a whole minute later: ]

Not my cousin.

Hm.

[ He thinks about that for a while. ]

Is that normal, where you are from?

They can help by staying out the way.

Is this how you make friends and influence people? By telling them they're useless to a cause?

[ A quiet but somehow still very dramatic groan of excruciating boredom. ]

[ "Friends" ?? ? "Influence" ?? ??? ? ]

No, it is how I get things done without tripping over idiots.
bouchonne: (ooooooooh)

[ Already in the middle of planning how to ask her: ]

You've already promised. Too late for caveats.
bouchonne: (drunken pontificating)

[personal profile] bouchonne 2022-06-03 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a slightly complicated question. But - around two years.

[ A noise of consideration. ]

How do you expect those idiots to... graduate to a higher calling if you're only dismissing them?
exequy: (1035)

[personal profile] exequy 2022-06-03 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That won't prove you're right. It will prove Sidony is too easily influenced.

There's nothing you need to thank me for.

Why should I give a shit if they graduate to anything?
kantikoy: (271)

[personal profile] kantikoy 2022-06-03 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Because they'd be helpful, Kostos. Maker.
exequy: (217)

[personal profile] exequy 2022-06-03 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
You think. Maybe they would be just as useless, but more cocky about it.
kantikoy: (298)

[personal profile] kantikoy 2022-06-03 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
So that's the risk you're willing to make? That they'd be too big for their britches while also not helping in the ways you think are best?
exequy: (193)

[personal profile] exequy 2022-06-03 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[ After a moment of thought: ]

Yes.

[ And/or he will argue with anyone about anything and refuse to admit he's wrong, indefinitely. ]

...You do not improve my faith in the human man.
armd: (yeah well ok)

[personal profile] armd 2022-06-03 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
A very different world.

I'd say that I hope you could see it some day, but it's not a very nice world.
armd: (content)

[personal profile] armd 2022-06-03 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
(Ruefully,) A little too friendly.

(But like she said, he's just a baby. Eventually he stops trying to leap on Sidony, and sits nicely for scratches.) I didn't know you had a cat. What's its name?
armd: (squint!)

[personal profile] armd 2022-06-03 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I'm still hungry.
armd: (interesting)

[personal profile] armd 2022-06-03 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
(oh ho)

What's the most entertaining thing you've read.
contritumella: (you brought in)

[personal profile] contritumella 2022-06-03 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
No. [ River shakes her head; talking with Ellie and knowing about Abby's nightmares have sealed that idea firmly in her head. Wherever these two are from, it's probably objectively terrible. ] Are you okay with staying here?
armd: (santa barbara)

[personal profile] armd 2022-06-03 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
(That's a difficult question to answer.) I don't have a choice.
