The worlds were so similar, he'd first thought he'd traveled back in time to the days of Ascalon rather than across the Mists to another world entirely. It had been a greater challenge adapting to his new body than anything else.
For most rifters, it's the opposite - many come from worlds where magic does not even exist or is so wildly different to what is in Thedas it might as well not be called magic at all.]
