His brow lifts at talk of torture and heresy. "That's terrible. I doubt many elves would be happy to join if that was the case. Many of my kind don't believe in the same religion that humans do. We'd be the first lined up for that sort of treatment. I assure you the Inquisition here would do no such thing."

He finds the bird and points it out to her. He doesn't want to startle it by making a big scene, though he wonders if they can both go around it to get it. For now, though, he just wants to watch it and answer her questions.
