It was pretty simple. A bed was set up in one corner, surprisingly nice. A desk and a couple of bookshelves in another corner, covered with evidence of various experiments, just things to keep himself busy. The centerpiece of the room was a hearth and chimney, evidence of cooking scattered around it, with a little end table and two chairs in front of it. There had been a time, after all, when Raylan might entertain a visitor. Tucked into another corner was what passed for a kitchen, mostly just a big table with some utensils scattered over it and the water basin to one side. Yet even sparse as it was, the place would seem crowded with three people. There wasn't a lot of room left over.

"Sit anywhere," Raylan said, and lifted his hands, facing out the door. He replaced the wards where they'd been, frowning in concentration. When he seemed satisfied, he shut the door again and went to the pot over the fire.

"Don't have much food," he sniffed, stirring the contents with a spoon. "Not so easy to come by as it once was, but you're welcome to a little if you're hungry." It was at least warm, warm enough that the skinny mage seemed comfortable in a shirt and pants.
