1. This was probably karma for something. Meoni wasn't sure for what, but it must have been something big.
She frowned at the great bear and her two smaller cubs below--smaller meaning the size of a normal bear. It was her own fault for not having a good enough grip on her axe--one of those cubs had attacked her and she'd taken it out--which was all well and good, but it had fallen down the cliff, taking her ax with it.
Then momma bear came.
"Maker's breath," Meoni snapped as she threw a fire grenade at the group. One of the cubs peeled off, panicking, but the mother only roared and slammed her front paws into the tree. It lurched forward alarmingly, and Meoni clutched her branch harder, wishing she'd taken up archery.
5a. Guarding the Crossing was always usually dreary. These days nothing came this close to the large group of people, and if there even were any darkspawn in the Hinterlands, Meoni had seen neither hide nor hair of them. This was, basically, grunt work. Soldiers with the little Inquisition helmets and armor she couldn't hope to fit into usually got this assignment.
Meoni glanced up from fiddling with her gloves to look at her companion. "So...been with the Inquisition long?"
