Elevator Pitch: Rude, sarcastic baker who says "I don't care" while caring a lot. Hates bullies and is secretly a huge pushover for anybody in need, but she has trouble with social situations and connecting with people and usually can't say a nice thing to save her life. Have this pie instead. (The secret ingredient is feelings)
Where They've Been: Avery was born and raised in Denerim, until fairly recently when she made a temporary move to Redcliffe on her way elsewhere. And then the whole war thing conveniently exploded around her. She got hurt pretty bad at one point in the crossfire and got stuck with the other Hinterlands refugees while she recovered. Forever later, after she finally healed up enough, she headed straight to Skyhold to volunteer, because she figures without the Inquisition she might have just died there. Also guilt for some stuff she did there to survive.
Typical Day: The kitchens is where you'll probably find her! She works there constantly, she sometimes even sleeps there, and she's very protective of it. So if you need something from there, you might have to get through her first. The gardens or stables are the most likely places she'll be other than that.
Plot Interests: I don't really have any definite plans, other than that she may be getting a promotion soon to being the personal chef for the Inquisition's Advisors, which could be fun to play around with. Other than that, I'd love to see her get pulled into some things.

And again, Avery is pretty easy to work into domestic-y stuff around the keep! Everybody's gotta eat (pretty much)! If you've got a character who you want more CR for but it's hard because they're not very social, it's easy-peasy to bump into her in the dining hall or even have her DELIVER a meal to them if they skip the normal mealtimes a lot. She's also likely to volunteer for other physical work that might need doing around the place. Just be aware, she might not be very NICE about it.
CR Interests: Avery isn't very social, but I'm working on improving that. I'd love for her to meet some more people who see how squishy and awkward she actually is. Also people to butt heads with! Also also pretty women to make her even MORE squishy and awkward. Etc. etc. etc.

Feel free to have Avery lineface at Korrin for skipping meals and basically living off tea somehow, since she rarely leaves the healing tents these days.

That is 100% a thing that can happen. Avery already sometimes brings food down to the healing tents for patients who can't make the trip up to the dining hall (and healers who are too busy or stubborn to)

but Bruce SKIPS A LOT OF MEALTIMES so. You know. He can easily be yet another one that's constantly harassed. Like 'since they all came to Skyhold' harassed or whatever.

Honestly I was MAKING myself hold back on hitting up too much open stuff EVEN THOUGH I WANTED TO JUMP EVERYBODY EVER lol because Avery's no social butterfly and I wanted to play up her sort of GRADUALLY opening up to the idea of talking to more people

But yes, she definitely sometimes brings food to the healing tents for both patients and healers who can't/don't make it to the dining hall, so that can be a thing he's used to happening

He's probably very used to it by now, I'm sure. And also considering Bruce's history in the game so far there probably was a period where he did sort of make an effort to take care of himself (because he had ~friends~) but now he pretty much sank back down to rock bottom after burning his CR due to revealing his mage thing. Which she probably could have easily heard about too.

hmmmm, what details would a rando not really directly related to that probably pick up in the general rumor mill?

General rumor mill just mostly talks about how Bruce was totally doing magic when they were at the Approach (in the Fade, really, but details are probably muddy now so it doesn't matter). He was shooting fireballs and the like from a staff. He's been dragged to do some magic around Skyhold and has been formally drafted to serve the Inquisition as a proper mage since then, so at this point its more or less an open secret. \o/

Oho, I see. Honestly though, Avery might be pretty meh about it?? Haha, like she'd get why some people are upset of course, but she wouldn't care too much herself, other than thinking it is Not Cool to be lying to everybody in the Inquisition and being kind of confused about why that ever seemed like a good idea

Personally she's a little freaked out by mages doing magic stuff in her vicinity after a bad experience a while back, but her thoughts on that and the war aside, she doesn't have strong negative or positive opinions on mages individually really

Its totally cool that she's meh about it! But yeah Bruce's good streak of taking care of himself stopped after that whole thing happened so I figure its best to give it a heads up nonetheless since its sort of tangentially related. He doesn't actively do magic though unless requested, so she can rest easy on that account.

raylan definitely holes up in his "laboratory" and doesn't come out for meals sometimes and given he was on the edge of starvation when he got here that's probably not a good life choice, so another volunteer to be harassed with food if you're still looking????

im always up for more of that silliness! and we can either assume its happened a couple times already or figure out a place to play out a first encounter of the brunch kind sometime

well, when he arrived raylan was like. always in the kitchens doing puppy eyes and "look how skinny i am i'm gonna catch the scurvy" to scam a bit of food. so i don't know if she'd know him from that or be favorably inclined if she did???

haha if they did run into each other then, she would have definitely been a huge grouch about it but given in and given him something in that case (all rolling her eyes and telling him to eat a damn fruit and get out of her way already)

and shed probably remember him and notice if he didnt show up for extended periods of time

the fruit in this pastry is totally fruit and it totally counts

so i'm doing an open log and it will have one to bother him at his place, maybe that would work for this? he'll be appropriately bashful about being an annoyance before and about making her come all this way lmf
