Quickly, she is in the position he has taught her. She wants to make him proud, after all.

"Find a route for escape," she recites, looking around to do so while sinking into a defensive fighting position.

"Good," he tells her with a nod of his head. "What do we do if we're caught?"

"Break their hold," she answers, though she doesn't change position because he hasn't yet shown her what kind of hold she is breaking.

He circles around her and places his arm around her neck, very gently, but imitating a stronger hold.

"Show me."

Obediently and swiftly, she grabs his elbow, leans to one side, and slips from his grasp, twisting his arm around to his back and kicking the back of his knee to make him fall.

Merrick follows along with their dance, and then he straightens up and nods again at her.

"Good. Now-- when someone grabs you, they're likely to pick you up off the ground. You fight then, yeah? As hard as you can. Use your feet, kick, bite them if necessary."
