In the Dragon Age games, as you travel Thedas with your best pals, they have a lot of short conversations about politics, the weather, butts, etc. So this is the Fade Rift equivalent, in four easy steps!

1. Imagine your characters are on a very long walk toward a mission objective, or on a very long walk back after kicking ass, or standing guard together, or gathering herbs, or working in the library late at night, or something. Anything sort of boring that might make people want to have a dumb conversation just to break things up a bit.

OPTIONAL ASSISTANT: Since so many people reported being out of it, we made a random generator to help you come up with some general banter prompts for your top-levels.

2. Post a few remarks your character might say (similar to TFLN, except spoken out loud and less ridiculous and sexy, maybe. maybe not. we don’t know your life) while passing the time.

3. Tag around to reply to those general remarks or to start new/wildcard conversations! Threads should be pretty short and involve minimal action; there’s no need to turn anything into a big production. Multiperson threads are encouraged. Series of conversations between the same two characters occurring on different days are also encouraged.

4. Gather up all of your little conversation snippets like a bouquet and keep them forever, because they’re game canon. Banter threads can't be used for Base AC, but do count towards AC Rewards points.

Ah, I think the dwarves have something like that. Fascinating. You really have the same question where you're from?

Pointless ethical riddles are popular in every universe, apparently. Are you not going to answer?

[bouchonne]

I'd stay idle, which is my specialty. What if you did know some of them?

[technologist]

Then that'd impact my decision, wouldn't it. Do you think staying idle's the same thing as washing your hands of the consequences?

[bouchonne]

No, I'm just very lazy. All right, let's say you know the one person and there's one person you know in the five. What's your choice?

[technologist]

That's just maths again. They'll cancel each other out, so it's still better to save five over the one. If you want it to be a difficult question you've got to pit someone you love against the five.

[bouchonne]

The person in the five is someone you hate.

[technologist]

If the question's whether I'd murder four strangers to off someone I hate, no. I wouldn't.

Two people you hate. How about then?

[technologist]

Still maths. Save the three I don't hate. If you hated the one man would that make you less lazy?

[bouchonne]

How dare you ask me that.

All right - four people you hate and one person you don't hate on one side, one person you don't hate on the other. What now.

[technologist]

Depends on who the people I don't hate are. Is that a yes or no?

[bouchonne]

My laziness is as constant as the sun. - They're just random people. No one you know.

[technologist]

You seem to have plenty of energy for asking leading questions. I'd still take the option that saves more lives.

[bouchonne]

Really? How soft.

[technologist]

That's not the word I'd use.

What word would you use, then?

Weak. Which is what you meant, anyway. What if someone you cared about was in front of the boulder?

[bouchonne]

Hold on, now. You think it's weak to not murder people?

[technologist]

That's not what— if it's someone who deserves it, then yeah. Yes. People I theoretically hate, that's what we're discussing.

[bouchonne]

I see. So strength would be to watch them die?

[technologist]

Strength is doing what has to be done, no matter what it costs you. I'm not going to generalize about appropriate murder.
