In the Dragon Age games, as you travel Thedas with your best pals, they have a lot of short conversations about politics, the weather, butts, etc. So this is the Fade Rift equivalent, in four easy steps!

1. Imagine your characters are on a very long walk toward a mission objective, or on a very long walk back after kicking ass, or standing guard together, or gathering herbs, or working in the library late at night, or something. Anything sort of boring that might make people want to have a dumb conversation just to break things up a bit.

OPTIONAL ASSISTANT: Since so many people reported being out of it, we made a random generator to help you come up with some general banter prompts for your top-levels.

2. Post a few remarks your character might say (similar to TFLN, except spoken out loud and less ridiculous and sexy, maybe. maybe not. we don’t know your life) while passing the time.

3. Tag around to reply to those general remarks or to start new/wildcard conversations! Threads should be pretty short and involve minimal action; there’s no need to turn anything into a big production. Multiperson threads are encouraged. Series of conversations between the same two characters occurring on different days are also encouraged.

4. Gather up all of your little conversation snippets like a bouquet and keep them forever, because they’re game canon. Banter threads can't be used for Base AC, but do count towards AC Rewards points.

[ Dryly: ] If you're going to invent my reaction, you might as well invent the answer to your question, too.

[ She regrets the suggestion as soon as she's made it. ]

[ Miracle of miracles, though: he declines to take the bait, instead just smiling and letting it go. ]

What do you suppose I would do, if you were to actually answer my question and tell me something about your sea-legged lover?

[ Is this how one gets the best out of Byerly Rutyer? Make the worst too easy? ]

Extrapolate wildly in the filthiest possible way and bring it up at every opportunity from now on.

Have I ever actually done that to you?

[hassaran]

[ Well. ] No.

But I've no reason to trust that will continue if you're given ammunition.

[bouchonne]

[ Dryly: ]

You think I haven't found ammunition already?

[ C'mon, Yseult. Smutty-minded people don't need a whole lot of pretense to make dirty jokes. ]

I tease people who enjoy being teased. And people who are full enough of wind that they need to be punctured. You're neither, unless I miss my guess.

[hassaran]

[ Some sense bristles at the suggestion that she's been anything less than perfectly discreet, but after a second her head tips, acknowledging the point. He could have made it up out of Darras's mere existence or nothing at all if he were so inclined.

She still isn't going to go so far as to make any comment on whether she likes being teased, but fine. She relents: ]

Is he, now. So Flint is the only disreputable bachelor amongst us, hm? How long have you been wed?

[ the handcuffs were obviously for the lock-picking training course!! ]

Eleven years. And Flint and Silver seem near enough.

Together, they rear little schemes and plots. A charming family.

[ Still. ]

Eleven years. You must not even have been twenty years old yet.

[hassaran]

Flattery now? A few years older than that.

They've been too quiet lately for my liking.

Are you older than thirty? You must tell me how you take care of your skin; it's flawless.

[ But - ]

But yes. I'll admit that I do not thrill to their quiet. Which is a rather unpleasant thing to think about one's ally.

[hassaran]

[ She can't quite help looking at him a little sideways, but. ] Thank you.

There's an apothecary in Val Royeaux I found some years ago, I can give you her address when we return if you like.

I'd like to think they learned their lesson. [ But plainly she doesn't. ]

I fear that the work is already taking its toll on me.

Apparently, the comment about learning their lesson is so absurd as to not warrant response. ]
