Party Banter Meme

In the Dragon Age games, as you travel Thedas with your best pals, they have a lot of short conversations about politics, the weather, butts, etc. So this is the Fade Rift equivalent, in four easy steps!

1. Imagine your characters are on a very long walk toward a mission objective, or on a very long walk back after kicking ass, or standing guard together, or gathering herbs, or working in the library late at night, or something. Anything sort of boring that might make people want to have a dumb conversation just to break things up a bit.

OPTIONAL ASSISTANT: Since so many people reported being out of it, we made a random generator to help you come up with some general banter prompts for your top-levels.

2. Post a few remarks your character might say (similar to TFLN, except spoken out loud and less ridiculous and sexy, maybe. maybe not. we don’t know your life) while passing the time.

3. Tag around to reply to those general remarks or to start new/wildcard conversations! Threads should be pretty short and involve minimal action; there’s no need to turn anything into a big production. Multiperson threads are encouraged. Series of conversations between the same two characters occurring on different days are also encouraged.

4. Gather up all of your little conversation snippets like a bouquet and keep them forever, because they’re game canon. Banter threads can't be used for Base AC, but do count towards AC Rewards points.

Mm. By implying your own lack of faith in my awareness.
bouchonne: (shocked!!!)

What slander! My faith in you knows no bounds!

That's quite a claim.
bouchonne: (droll)

And yet it's ever so true. So - the conundrum. Which do you choose? The one, or the five?

I prefer not to make decisions without context.
bouchonne: (considering)

[personal profile] bouchonne 2020-04-01 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, we both know that's not true.
bouchonne: (droll)

Don't we? I believe that you believed, when you slipped that knife between my ribs, that I wanted it in some way. No?

My dear, what you wanted was painfully obvious—had you only told me how it should be delivered, I wouldn't've had to improvise. Granted, at the time, I was not at my best... but, to be fair, you were being very annoying.
bouchonne: (i fucking hate you)

[ His smile has a sharp edge to it, and his eyes glitter. But his voice stays pleasant. ]

Action without context.

There's a great difference between lacking one morsel of context and having none at all. But I suppose I'll bite—honestly, what did you think would happen?
bouchonne: (exploding inside)

Well done. You've caught me out. I secretly thought the whole time that I was going to get knifed.

That wasn't a facetious question.
bouchonne: (sardonic)

And yet it's so hard to take it seriously.

[personal profile] sarcophage 2020-04-02 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
And why is that?
bouchonne: (snooty)

[personal profile] bouchonne 2020-04-05 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Because of the chasm between what you ought to have thought and what you did think is so wide.

I expected you would leave her things alone.

Mmm. Dissembling aside, then—she wouldn't have minded my being there.

You tell me about my wife's preferences?

Strange, isn't it? I wouldn't have thought it necessary, either, but here we are.
