In the Dragon Age games, as you travel Thedas with your best pals, they have a lot of short conversations about politics, the weather, butts, etc. So this is the Fade Rift equivalent, in four easy steps!

1. Imagine your characters are on a very long walk toward a mission objective, or on a very long walk back after kicking ass, or standing guard together, or gathering herbs, or working in the library late at night, or something. Anything sort of boring that might make people want to have a dumb conversation just to break things up a bit.

OPTIONAL ASSISTANT: Since so many people reported being out of it, we made a random generator to help you come up with some general banter prompts for your top-levels.

2. Post a few remarks your character might say (similar to TFLN, except spoken out loud and less ridiculous and sexy, maybe. maybe not. we don’t know your life) while passing the time.

3. Tag around to reply to those general remarks or to start new/wildcard conversations! Threads should be pretty short and involve minimal action; there’s no need to turn anything into a big production. Multiperson threads are encouraged. Series of conversations between the same two characters occurring on different days are also encouraged.

4. Gather up all of your little conversation snippets like a bouquet and keep them forever, because they’re game canon. Banter threads can't be used for Base AC, but do count towards AC Rewards points.

There was something of that sort, yes. At one point. But it doesn't really matter now.

Good. If you had a permanent feud, being caught between you would destroy me.

[bouchonne]

What - She means that much to you?

[ He twists his arm to elbow Byerly in the side. But not hard. ]

[bouchonne]

Ow. It's a genuine question. I didn't even know you were really friends.

[cozen]

I suppose that is fair.

[ Given he’s friendly to everyone, whether he actually likes them or not, and all of that. ]

We are really friends. She is precious and funny, and she is going to take me to Rivain on a griffon. [ Maybe. ]

[bouchonne]

She really threatened you with that? How dreadful. Do you need me to protect you?

[cozen]

Is there a problem with Rivain?

[ SURELY not a problem with the griffons. ]

[bouchonne]

[ A laugh, and a shake of his head. ]

Maker, you could not pay me to fly on one of those things. You could say to me, The war will end tomorrow if you simply scramble aboard these half-chicken-half-nug monstrosities, and I would say, Let scores more die.

[ Byerly and heights very much do not mix. ]

[cozen]

Monstrosities? They are beautiful.

[bouchonne]

There's a reason they're historically associated with the Gray Wardens. The level of charm is roughly equal for both.

[cozen]

Equal to Garahel, perhaps.

[bouchonne]

Maker, the elf really has gotten to you. How did you come to be so fond of her?

[cozen]

How does anyone become fond of anyone?

[bouchonne]

Don't ask me. I've never been involved in the process.

[cozen]

[ Bastien makes a wounded sound and presses his hand to his chest. ]

[bouchonne]

[ A sigh. ]

Fine. Through a lengthy charm campaign that lasts decades.

[cozen]

[ Airily, ] You cannot possibly be talking about your fondness for me, because I am not campaigning—and you cannot be talking about my fondness for you, because you are not charming—and really you cannot be talking about either of us, because nothing lasts decades when you run off for a decade in the middle.

So you must be referring to your Queen.

[bouchonne]

[ A bark of laughter in response to that. ]

Oh, come. The Queen campaigns for nothing. And I do not charm her one bit.

[cozen]

Unless you have proof she has not spurned all of her suitors because she is pining for you—Monsieur Grand, Brun et Beau, sighing herself to sleep thinking of the watchful eye you keep on her crown, the sacrifices you must both make that will prevent you from ever being together—

—then I refuse to believe otherwise.

[bouchonne]

[ basTIEN ]

I suppose she's never said directly to me that she's not deeply in love with me. And there aren't many people who aren't in love with me.

[cozen]

A heavy burden, sans aucun doute. Yet you bear it with such grace.

[bouchonne]

You're not wrong. How can I possibly return all the love I am given?

[cozen]

You could never hope to. Even if you set aside all other concerns—even if you ceased to sleep, ceased to eat—there would not be enough hours in a lifetime to satisfy every heart you must leave broken in your wake. Such a curse.
