You probably know how this works. Copy the form below, post it in the comments for each of your characters, and tag around to make plans! Characters accepted since our last CR meme (so like... a year ago) can post their CR meme comments below "New Characters" (or just put a link there) to help make sure they aren't lost in the pile.
This time, we also have a section for room/floor/office-mate CR. If your character lives in the Gallows, you can put them in a room on this spreadsheet if you haven't already done so. Then find the top-level comment for their floor and respond there with the mini-form and tag around to other people residing on that floor to work out any handwaved CR that comes from living in close proximity.

NEW CHARACTERS

ELEVATOR PITCH: Ellie was born after an established "zombie" apocalypse and is the only known human being immune to it. She's very, very good at killing things that try to kill her, has a lot of unresolved trauma and loss to deal with, and adores puns, space and dinosaurs. If you're not a dick to her or anybody who doesn't deserve it she'll probably like you. If you're an old tough bearded guy she has a soft spot for you and if you're a pretty lady around her age, she's trying her damndest not to be an awkward lesbian.
ON DUTY: Ellie's part of Scouting! I'm gearing her story towards griffon-riding so that should be locked in by the end of the month (Andrastaeia's helping her bond with Artichoke) and she takes on Scouting missions, courier duties, etc. She's an old hand at fighting, so you'll see her working with Forces (most recently in the Deep Roads) with her bow, and sometimes knives and blunt objects. (And some magic but that's on the down low.)
OFF DUTY: Off-duty you'll probably find Ellie either in the library or holed up somewhere with a book as she furiously learns the Thedosian alphabet, sketching in her journal (she might have even been sketching your character) or helping out in the stables or with the griffons. If you have a mount she has absolutely attempted to befriend it, especially if it's a species she hasn't seen before.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Books, lore, combat/fighting, the differences in science between worlds, magic??? and personal stories. Ellie has some issues opening up but she likes listening to other people's experiences and if you give her half a chance she'll ask a million questions about your character's world.
RP & CR WISHES: Varied CR! I thrive on characters making connections and delving into their personal growth. Ellie's got a lot of things she's bottled right the fuck up, so it would be nice to get her caring about people and making some real friends and connections, things to be passionate about. I would also like to see her develop a personal stake in this war and the safety of Thedas. She really needs something to believe in, to get her out of her own head.

ELEVATOR PITCH: Magical princess-turned-queen of the kingdom of Bright Moon. Big heart, very stubborn and fighty and wants to get her hands dirty. Lost her mom and is sad about it. Misses home.
ON DUTY: Forces! Glimmer is just starting to get involved and figure out what it is she's doing, which involves getting familiar with magic here in Thedas and trying to pick up some techniques unrelated to her magic, just to be safe. You can find her standing guard at the Gallows, escorting people, helping with inventory and other logistics, and dealing with the various stables of animals (horses and griffons both).
OFF DUTY: Studying Thedasian magic and the local writing system, trying to work out ways to better herself--exercise, training, and research. She can also be found in the gardens at the Gallows just because she likes being near green and growing things, even if she's not much of a gardener herself.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Combat/fighting, magic, HOME. Especially home. She will happily chat about Etheria all day long if someone wants to hear about it, so anyone who wants to actually learn about Rifters and where they come from will find a receptive conversation partner in Glimmer. She'll also talk your ear off about her own experience helping to run a war, even if she looks young.
RP & CR WISHES: I'm looking to get her neck deep in the refugee crisis over in Hasmal eventually, since it hits very close to home for her. In the meantime, I'd love to have her make more friends in the various divisions and find someone to help her get up to speed on Forces stuff! She's also holding back a lot of pain and grief that she doesn't like showing off to strangers (she misses home, is still mourning her mother, and feels very much adrift right now) so people who want to get closer with her and help her open up again would be wonderful.

ELEVATOR PITCH:
Big scary man that never takes off his armor, mad a lot, sad inside. Doesn't know how to handle people or nice things, came here just to work himself to the bone for a good cause thinking it's the same thing as absolution.
Or at least as close to it as he can get.
ON DUTY:
Fight bigly.
No but really, he's a physical man, and while his preference for tasks runs towards the more action or strength oriented, there's absolutely nothing he openly balks at (aside from reading books about philosophy, thanks Flint): everything as minor as running trinkets from one place to another or just performing menial tasks for local populaces in order to garner favor is entirely on the table, but he's been known to kill a dragon or get bloody when the mood suits. Basically the sky is the limit, he's here to do good work in what little time he assumes Rifters have.
OFF DUTY:
'personal life', that's a good one. His schedule is extremely routine by default, when missions don't interfere: he wakes before dawn, cleans and cares for his equipment, trains for a handful of hours while the air is still cooler, gets any smaller taskwork or reports done, takes lunch in private at noon, spends the rest of the day working, then peels off for an hour of training before bed/dinner/rest in private. Efficient and utterly boring.
Also, the armor only ever comes off in private. Don't expect much in the way of fun, that's not what he wants (it's what I want for him).
CONVERSATION TOPICS:
Justice, murder, honor, the perseverance of benevolence in dark places, armor, weapons, self-sacrifice, how much gods suck.

RP & CR WISHES:
Acceptance that it's fine to be a human with wants and needs is a big deal for him. It won't come easy, or quickly, but it's not impossible: he's never been given the opportunity to learn (and he's impossibly stubborn), but that doesn't make him incapable. Keep in mind he'll probably be a thorn if he's pulled too far out of his comfort zone, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love that kind of CR too, or just straight up antagonistic CR.
I love tension, I love emotional bs, I like friction and the weird differences in cultures making for either understanding or fuss, so I hesitate to say anything because anything is so broad, but literally everything is welcome in the shadow of my thirsting gaze ok.
I will say I have a tendency (some of it is just Gabranth and his dour everything too) to cut threads off if they hit a point of fair conclusion in favor of doing more later on, but know you can always say hey I'm not done yet if you want/need more out of a thread, or have your character demand Gabranth quit being an evasive ghost and he'll absolutely stop dead in his tracks.
PS: you guys have all been a delight to thread with and an absolute godsend, and I can't tell you how much I've appreciated all of it. I know Gabranth isn't easy to get along with, but you've all done so much to make me feel welcome and I really do appreciate that since I am, at heart, a very reclusive ghost of a creature that isn't super eloquent, lmao.

ELEVATOR PITCH: Nevarran surgeon with known proficiency for non-magical healing, very technical. Married to Byerly Rutyer in what seems like a passionate, charming union. Somewhat anti-magic but generally doesn't seem to care much else about other drama and conflict.
ON DUTY: Sidony is a surgeon/healer above all else; she uses potions, poultices and surgery to treat and take care of people and, being non-magical, she cannot offer any kind of magical healing. She's primarily settled in the healer's quarters but can also be found in the library, translating, researching, etc. She's a devoted Base Operations girl.
OFF DUTY: Sidony enjoys quiet time, drinking good wine and chatting (not gossip, chat!!) She's married to Byerly, so she often spends a little bit of time with him. Otherwise she can be found in Hightown, the markets, on missions, etc, doing healing, reading, chatting and trying on dresses and investigating new fashions!
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Hacks: talk about Nevarra, fashion (especially dresses), medicine, healing, herbs, etc. Do not discuss magic. Anything relating to medicine, healing, surgery, herbs, etc, will immediately get her attention. She's also almost overbearingly interested in the Mortalitasi, rituals relating to death and the human body.
Otherwise she's generally fine to have any kind of smalltalk - she will talk about clothing, nobility, politics, the Game, etc, and will be happy to at least attempt politeness with most people if they offer it first.
RP & CR WISHES: Any and all! I've kind of dropped the ball a little of late so I'd like to work on that. She has some nice colleagues, so some good friends to work with would be really nice for her. I'd also like to work out some kind of possible romantic relationship (f/f) with her in the future to get her really settled into her sexuality, since she's comfortable but not entirely secure!

ELEVATOR PITCH: Charming yet duplicitous pirate, full of secrets. Reasonably helpful, if you're prepared to be helpful in return.
ON DUTY: Current Master of Information ie in charge of writing and disseminating propaganda throughout Thedas. Do you have a whisper campaign you'd like to get off the ground? Would you like to spread word that Corypheus is actually three big rats in a trenchcoat? Drop in on him. He rarely works out of the Diplomacy offices, and can be reliably found in the common areas of the Gallows most mornings.
Rarely seen in the Diplomacy offices outside of the instances he drops in for a drink with Byerly, but does involve himself or at least keep abreast of whatever work happening in the Diplomacy Division. John's more selective about which missions he leaves Kirkwall to participate in, but will generally volunteer himself for anything that involves the possibility of some smooth-talking.
OFF DUTY: John is not very interested in being Perceived, but he is easy to establish a chill friendship with. He'll converse with most people about anything, up to the point he loses interest and then he'll gently extricate himself from conversation. All conversations with him are very "Let's talk about you," but over time some more sincere conversation can develop. Higher chances of that occurring if there's some perceived relation to the big projects he and Flint devote their time to.
Most afternoons he heads into Kirkwall for various reasons ie he visits this merchant, checks in with that duke, drops in on the lady of x Hightown house, etc. Can reliably be found any evening in a tavern or public house in Lowtown, holding pirate office hours and glad-handing with sailors passing through Kirkwall. You need zero excuse to bump into him in the course of these nightly pursuits, or just corner him on the ferry if you're looking for face time with him.
Spends the majority of his time with Flint and Madi, as well as Petrana de Cedoux of late. Seems to be seeing Isaac routinely, presumably related to his leg.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: John is very friendly and accommodating by design, so it's not hard to strike up a conversation. Like I mentioned, he's willing to humor people to a point, and then gently excuse himself when he's bored. Will entertain a lot he isn't specifically interested in because he finds general value in knowing people and what interests them. Adrasteia, a Grey Warden

ELEVATOR PITCH: Extremely cheerful (and honestly so) Grey Warden joins Riftwatch and becomes Morale Officer. Hijinks ensue.
ON DUTY: Adrasteia is in Forces and is a griffon rider; she's also a spirit healer who works in the infirmary and is also practicing her alchemy with mixed results. She's decent at the spirit healing part though. So if you need healing or someone to teach your character griffon riding, she's your girl. Also general magic practice (she's best at fire-based attacks). She can also be found in the Morale Officer's office in the central tower.
OFF DUTY: Adrasteia spends some of her time in the library (she's recently donated a lot of middling to outright bad romance novels in Trade and Orlesian), more time in the griffons' eyrie, and can be found on occasion in the central chapel. In Kirkwall she's most often in Lowtown establishments like the market or taverns or the Alienage talking to people, trying to see what their healer needs are, things like that. She does go to Hightown on occasion, but never alone and usually just to window shop.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Oh man Adrasteia can talk about almost anything if she feels comfortable enough, though she's more likely to discuss Grey Wardens (in a general sense) and their history, Blights and their history, darkspawn, magic and it's concepts, Ferelden history especially as it pertains to Amaranthine with just about anyone.
Topics she doesn't thrive in include the Game and politics because she's still an Alienage elf and that world has been closed to her for most of her life.
RP & CR WISHES: I'd love for Adrasteia to have some crushes that actually come to some sort of fruition; this is complicated by the fact that she doesn't tend to tell her crushes about her feelings, and I'm sorry about that lmao. She's attracted to any and all genders though and has a thing for those that are Good At Their Jobs, so...
Otherwise, Adrasteia needs more friends! Any social strata is great, though she (understandably) has less experience having friends in the nobility. It sometimes takes her a little longer to warm up to humans, esp. human men. You get: someone who will give your character somewhat useful & thoughtful gifts for barely any reason at all.

Byerly Rutyer | Diplomacy

ELEVATOR PITCH: Current head of Diplomacy, semi-currently also a spy for Ferelden. But in a friendly allies-y way! Pretends to be a louche scoundrel, is truthfully a louche good dude.
ON DUTY: Byerly spends most of his day in the Diplomacy office. He works a great deal on exchanging correspondence and taking meetings with both Riftwatchers and randos. He keeps late hours - comes in after noon, stays there till the wee hours of the morning. He'll allow anyone in to speak with them and inevitably offer them a drink. The less he trusts you, the stronger the drink.
OFF DUTY: Byerly is a foul, hideous extrovert. He can be found in the company of anyone, anywhere - you're as likely to run into him rubbing elbows with the guards in the Gallows as you are to see him in a gambling den in Lowtown as you are to see him at a swanky party in Hightown. Anywhere your character is, Byerly will plausibly be there.
In terms of people he's likely to be found with: he spends the most time with Bastien and Alexandrie, with whom he is in a somewhat awkward throuple. He is also married to Sidony. And honestly he'll shove himself into any group any time
CONVERSATION TOPICS: He likes to talk about everything, so it's easier to say what he's not interested in! He tends to be less engaged in the heavily-intellectual conversations, though, as he's pretty well convinced he isn't that smart - science ain't his bag. He also doesn't generally care about Rifters' home worlds and will typically check out from those convos. Conversations are typically pretty superficial, though; there's always an element of performativity with anyone who isn't super close to him (and most people who are, honestly). Real, heartfelt conversations are very hard to come by.
Worth noting also that he's dickish, especially to certain types of people. Anyone who's high-status and self-confident will get a lot of needling and nastiness from him; if that person then takes offense, then the needling will get worse. The way to defuse is to be rude back to him, especially facetiously. He really likes rudeness (though caveat that anyone who believes the scoundrel-ish facade he puts up will generally only win contempt from him).
RP & CR WISHES:
-I'd really like for Byerly to have some cr with positive influences! He's still a bit self-destructive, and it'd be lovely to get him some friendships with really decent, honest people who take care of themselves and others. In general, I love Byerly + nice people.
-I'd love to RP some Diplomacy stuff (come to me, members of the Diplomacy division!!) -- would adore characters coming with Strong Ideas and being willing to debate their relative merits (especially if they'd persist in the face of skepticism)
-Always down for people who will soften Byerly's hardened heart! He likes to stick up for the little guy. Bring me little guys

ELEVATOR PITCH: Earth-born man who learned morality from Don Quixote repeatedly trips and falls into universe-wide crises, then falls into Thedas as a rifter and decides that it's all gonna be His Problem.
ON DUTY: Jim's a member of Research Division, which means he's spending a lot of his time around the research offices helping with reports, records, etc, and any way he can help out the more scientifically-minded folks. He also goes out to do field work, with research and other division-relevant stuff, takes an interest in closing rifts and ways to get more information about The War, etc.
OFF DUTY: What is "unwinding." This man is no joke highkey about his coffee, he keeps a stock of it and has a Vendor in Kirkwall/favored shops to get coffee from, can be found making it in the kitchens, etc. If you've spoken to him in person you've probably seen him drinking coffee. He spends a lot of time with books like a big nerd, generally trying to learn and understand more about Thedas. Also can be found in the stables with his horse, Dulcinea, or taking her out for rides. Also also training with weapons, usually swords. He's a huge insomniac, so he can be reached at literal all hours.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: He's pretty chill and easy (hopefully??) to talk to! Holden's a friendly dude and likes to listen to people. That said, he's always here to talk about space (and/or bitch about missing modern technology), and he is very always here to discuss justICE. He has a lot of feelings about subjects like, checks list, mage rights, elf rights, dwarven caste systems, the nobility, etc. He's also taken a big interest in the situation with the war since the new yearish and is into learning more about what's up with Tevinter, the Venatori, what Riftwatch is doing, and so on. He's extremely reticent about his feelings and that's...unlikely to change, sorry guys. The circle of people he may ever open up to has increased incrementally over time so that's something though!

ELEVATOR PITCH: Orlesian Bard who paused his quiet retirement because Tevinter Imperium 2, Now With More Blight seems like a bad time. And because he was so so so so bored. Weapon of choice: dimples.
ON DUTY: He’s the leader for Project Jeshavis (counterintelligence efforts in Orlais and Ferelden) and always available to talk about any leads/connections/concerns or general strategy and scheming. Otherwise in the Diplomacy Division, usually dealing with merchants and other less-than-very-fancy types. Does some side spy projects for Scouting as needed. And he's contributed a printing press to Riftwatch's arsenal, so if your character need something printed (or would like to learn to do it themselves) he can help. Sometimes practices rogue-y combat.
OFF DUTY: Easy to find hanging around Lowtown or the docks in markets or taverns, making friends with the locals. Less easy to find in Hightown—if he's there it's usually for a specific reason/party/etc. Around the Gallows he likes to read and play music. If the weather is nice he'll do it outside. Goes to the theater with Fitcher, has friendship sights set on Edgard and Ellis, chummy with Yseult, Darras, Fifi, Athessa, and Alexandrie in particular, romantically involved with Byerly which is no longer a secret or very subtle. Will drag anyone who's the least bit willing ashore to go drinking or dancing if they look like they could use it.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: He's very friendly and very curious, so nearly anything! He wants to know where people are from and what they're about. If you want someone to pry into your character's personal business, let me know. I also have an observations inbox/permissions page for his habitual people watching. Also:
- I'd love to do more work-focused conversations, so if your character is involved in a mission that's even tangentially related to the enemy presence in Ferelden/non-occupied Orlais and you'd like them to be asked about it, or if they have connections or ideas or whatever, yes please hello.
- Also collaboratively bullshitting minor day to day work to complain about people who are making outrageous demands, talk about how to make this or that noble happy, scheme to get a better deal on oats, whatever.

ELEVATOR PITCH: Head of the Scouting Division, Free Marcher from who-knows-where, former covert agent for who-knows-who.
ON DUTY: Spends most of her time in the Scouting office, and regularly disappears for days at a time to visit contacts outside Kirkwall. She takes an extremely hands-on approach to managing the division, which is a polite way of saying she hates delegating, refuses to get an assistant, and does as much work as possible by herself, but once someone demonstrates that they're reasonably dedicated and efficient enough to be trusted to get on with things she won't micro-manage over their shoulder. She'll technically take any meeting, but make sure you can say why something is important in five sentences or less or she may listen with polite disinterest and ask pointed questions until you get self-conscious and figure out for yourself that you're wasting her time.
OFF DUTY: Yseult is a secretive, goal-oriented introvert who probably would prefer to spend her leisure time in the company of a stack of books rather than most people. She doesn't really believe in off-duty time, and when she's out of the office she's usually still working in some way: training, surveilling, checking in with contacts, trawling for information, etc. This can put her nearly anywhere in Kirkwall, often in some degree of disguise. She's friends with a griffon named Pockets, but playing with her also technically counts as work, ok.
On the rare occasion that she doesn't have a work-related agenda, it's most often shopping in the nicer parts of Lowtown or cheaper parts of Hightown (if only there were a Midtown), attending concerts or theater, eating at Antivan or Rivaini restaurants, or going dancing with Darras and/or Bastien at some hole-in-the-wall place they've assured her no one else from Riftwatch will ever turn up in.
Other than Darras, who lives with her in the Scouting suite, she's most often found with the other Division Heads, Bastien, or occasionally at Fitcher's card games.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Work. Almost any aspect of work is fair game, and is pretty much always the best way into a conversation with her. How are they doing with X, why are they doing Y, what should be done about Z. Talk about scouting work, the big picture of the war or Riftwatch, nitty gritty details of how to approach various problems, how past skills could be translated into present usefulness, how to train people better, the ethics of spy work or war, etc.
She's intentionally a cipher when it comes to almost all personal information, and honestly there's really no hack to get around that. But it is theoretically possible to get to at least more-personal conversations! and that's something I'd like to do more of. It takes time to build up trust and a rapport with her and get her to think of someone as a fellow competent adult she can have a real conversation with, and the best way to do it is still always through the prism of work and then shading it toward something more personal.
RP & CR WISHES: My main goals are to get more of her spywork on-screen and build up CR, and conveniently RPing some actual Scouting activities is a better way to build up CR with her. So more threads outside the Gallows that are some aspect of a two- or three-person job would be fun. As far as vague wishes go, I think it could also be interesting to see her attempt to be more of a mentor figure to some budding baby spy if anyone's looking for questionable advice from someone trained since childhood to always put the mission first.

ELEVATOR PITCH: Taciturn head of Riftwatch's Forces division. Nocen Sea Pirate, Ex-Tevinter, may or may not be on a revenge quest to burn down every institution of the civilized world.
ON DUTY: Flint spends a large part of his day in the Forces Division office (mornings and early afternoons for "open office hours", late afternoons and evenings dedicated to closed door scheming either in the office or out on the town). He takes a highly stratified management approach and relies heavily on his assistant or people who have assumed responsibility in the division to do their jobs and push any problems up the chain until they land on his desk. He'll technically take any meeting, but make sure you can say why something is important in five sentences or less or he may send you packing.
OFF DUTY: Flint is a secretive, goal-oriented introvert who probably would prefer to spend his leisure time in the company of a stack of books rather than most people. But needs must, and most of his "off duty" time is really just him taking off his Riftwatch Commander hat and putting on his Scheming Pirate Hat. Clandestine back room meetings, inciting civil war, and manipulating people he thinks might be useful to him are all favored hobbies and he's fairly willing to bend over backward for the latter so long as the other person is "useful" enough.
He spends most of his time with John Silver and Madi, though is frequently in the company of Petrana de Cedoux, the other division heads, and Gwenaelle Baudin (or Gwen's dog). May or may not be grudgingly tolerating a one-sided friendship with Aenor.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Hack for skipping past small talk: skip the small talk. Flint only has so many hours on this earth and would prefer to spend all of them talking about business or Serious Social Topics (the war, the Chantry, mage politics, politics in general, how much Tevinter sucks ass). He's more likely to engage in intellectual conversations (Flint's pretty sure he's very smart), and is fairly quick to ditch anything that's too light. Serious adult man seeking serious adult conversations, but is willing to have them with fresh faces.
RP & CR WISHES:
- Forces division things, particularly if anyone has ideas that they want to propose and chase. Despite all appearances to the contrary, Flint is very pro-enabling other people's projects (as long as, you know, they don't conflict too much with his own). OOCly speaking, I really like to spin plot ideas and while Flint isn't great for a lot of casual threading, he's very good for that kind of thing.
- In general, I really love the semantics of writing work-related conversations with Flint. Want to talk about duty roster rotations, or who should go on certain missions, or how Riftwatch is responding to current events? My door is open.
- Field trips! Small miniature missions where conversations can happen outside the office. Let's go jump some Venatori supply lines or stop some bandits or survey some part of the Waking Sea, or show up at the same boring Hightown party. In media res things where we can skip the small talk and jump straight to the conflict ideal.
- Would love the opportunity to throw some people under the oncoming wagon to further some personal and/or Riftwatch goals even if it makes him out as a real asshole.

CONVERSATION TOPICS: Edgard is an odd duck who is kind of an idiot, but thinks fairly deeply about things. I have loved every time he's been given a reason to think profoundly about things. Other than that, misunderstandings are always fun, he loves to talk about animals, and he deeply hates rich people and will talk about that forever. He also can be fairly empathetic towards others if given the chance, but you gotta get past his bluster a little.

Beth saw Some Shit over the last two years of her life, especially lately, and is trying to figure out how to live with herself as a result. That said, she's sort of the epitome of i am soft because i chose to be and still has a lot of room in her life for friendship and fun stuff. She's just also kind of traumatized.
ON DUTY: Beth's in Diplomacy, though she's also very interested in Project Felandaris, because she'd like rifters to have as much control over their presence in Thedas as possible. (She's dead back home. She kind of wants to stick around here, tyvm.) She got talked into Diplomacy partly because people seemed fairly chill about Byerly as a leader and partly because it seemed like the best way to get to do music stuff. Because she's still so new to Thedas, she's probably doing a lot of "accompany someone else on a Diplo task and take notes" kind of stuff rather than being sent out on her own.
OFF DUTY: Beth's a musician who plays guitar, piano, and sings! Unfortunately, she's still pretty broke
so y'all gotta help me get that piano reward, haha, so she doesn't do much practicing or performing at this point. Beyond that, she's probably slowly exploring Kirkwall (particularly likes the memorial garden and the market district), reading stuff in the library, practicing very beginner dagger stuff in the training yard, and saying hi to all the animals. (Adores Noose.)CONVERSATION TOPICS: Basic small talk isn't too hard to get to! Music is an easy one, and so is telling stories about where you're from or who you are. She came here to make friends, and while she might not tell you the whole truth right away, she'll open up about some of the uglier stuff pretty easily.

• I'm interested in moving her towards spying-adjacent stuff at some point. I don't think Full Bardship seduce-and-murder thing is a good fit, but she knows a fair amount about sneaking around already, SO. That might be a fun angle to play around with.
• I'd like to play around with some of her rougher character development--she's someone with a strong sense of right and wrong, but she's become pragmatic to the point of deadly, and I think there's room to do something with that. I'm not sure what yet, but I want to do something with the push and pull between "there are some things you should never, ever do" and "the ends justify the means."
• In general, I think Diplo stuff might be fun to base things in, especially of the "fancy clothes and intrigues" variety.
• Also, survivalist stuff.
• Beth could use friends her own age. But she also is really used to being one of the youngest people in the room at this point, so, like. Maladjusted middle-aged men or whoever also welcome to apply.
• Canonically, Beth gets into relationships pretty easily, though her last character arc might complicate things a little. If you're interested in about writing dates, brief relationships, one-night stands, or anything else, she's a pretty solid character for "we were into each other for a while, but it's not forever love or w/e." (Or for longer term stuff, but she's pretty clear-eyed about the fact that she's probably not going to end up married to the next person she kisses

ELEVATOR PITCH: Current Division Head for Research, formerly project lead for Felandaris. Rifted-in Iron Man, thousandaire workboy philanthropist.
ON DUTY: He has recently been promoted to Division Head and the process of acclimating to this (IC and OOC) is an ongoing project. His mornings are his office hours, usually, and so can be found in the central tower, after which he can be found in the Research workshops or the dungeon levels, if he isn't working in the field, normally chasing rifts to study and close them. In the evenings, he may well still be in a workshop, or will retreat to his office to catch up on (Wysteria's) paperwork. His central research focus has been rift interactions, for obvious reasons, and studying the shards that rifters (and native shard-bearers) have. His other fascination has been using lyrium in machinery, as his arc reactor was converted into a lyrium reactor, which opens up several innovative doors (this is not public knowledge, but happy to find RP reasons to interact about it).
His projects are currently:
- the ARRIVED system, which is a rift/rifter detection system and technology (more on that soon)
- building an airship
- finishing his robot, Fred (fade-reactor energy droid)
- working with Forces to create a coastal watch system
- eternally data-gathering about rifts, "Fadeiation", and Veil-thin areas
- general metaplot quandaries
The people he can be found with most frequently would be the Science Club config of Wysteria and Ellis, dubious intimacy with Joselyn, work-related circling with Amos and Cosima and Holden. This is also his friend circle. What's work/life balance?
OFF DUTY: There's a few taverns he will crash in Lowtown for dinner and gambling, a finer establishment of similar vibe in Hightown he's managed to weasel his way into, but otherwise work and play have a blurry line between them.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Himself, research, problems, solutions to problems, gossip, other people's worlds, what your whole deal is, ethics with regards to introducing advanced scientific concepts and technologies into Thedas. He pretends to hate that but he will talk about it.

ELEVATOR PITCH: Former Circle mage who spent years describing himself as a Loyalist until his rifter girlfriend finally got him to confess that was kind of bullshit. Leader of Project Sashamiri, part of the Diplomacy division.
ON DUTY: As a project leader, a lot of his work is strategic and office-based. He's settled into a rough routine of spending the late morning in the library or otherwise on errands outside his office, and spending the hours between lunch and supper available for project business. In practice, he's often in his office after dinner too, though he seldom makes appointments then. Still, his door is usually open. He's fairly proactive in following up with people who've worked on Sashamiri projects if he needs more information.
OFF DUTY: Julius makes a point of being approachable, eating meals at normal mealtimes (usually in the staffed dining area) and attending Riftwatch-adjacent social events without being forced. He usually starts his day with some sparing or other excercise, and is happy to pair up with anyone else who happens to be there at the same time if they seem inclined. He and Petrana de Cedoux share a room and have been romantically linked for a few years now; it may be less common knowledge, though certainly not hidden, that Marcus Rowntree has recently moved in with them. In addition to those two, he has warm relationships throughout Riftwatch, so hmu and we'll see if we can Kevin Bacon it if you like!
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Because he's a project leader and has been with Riftwatch for years, it's probably pretty easy to find a work hook either through Sashamiri or Diplomacy. If you'd rather not talk business, there's always politics; he makes no secret of being a mage and he's certainly open to discussing the future of Thedosian mages, or his past experiences as one. He's unfortunately a workaholic, so totally fun topics may be harder unless your character starts it. He does like dogs, though.

OFF DUTY: Society Things (theatre, art shows, hunting, soirees, etc.), and now that it's nice out again she'll be spending a good amount of time out painting land and sea. She lives in Hightown, managing the estate left in her care by her husband and brother-in-law, but spends about half the week "working late" (which is to say conducting a genteelly-clandestine-but-not-really affair with Byerly).
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Alexandrie enjoys talking about fashion (hats especially), art (mostly music and painting), how objectively great her husband is, class politics, mage rights, and egregious romance novels. If you make friends with her, she will eventually put her nose into your emotional business. She will put her nose in your emotional business before you're friends if you're particularly proper and polished in a way that suggests a Tragic Backstory.
RP & CR WISHES: I like everything, especially unplanned everything, which makes this unfortunately useless for your planning purposes. ON DUTY: officially the Forces assistant, which means he has a little table in the corner of the Forces office and he does all of the paperwork and filing. if you've turned in a Forces report, you've come into contact with him. he does miscellaneous Forces work and assignments and spends a lot of time trying to get people to take him seriously.
OFF DUTY: his girlfriend is Laura and they have a cat together. if you're publicly a mage or do magic, he's pined about being your friend, with big points off for loyalists. generally he wakes up late, yet eats as many breakfasts as he can, and usually takes a second breakfast to the training yard where he spends time doing magic. he is definitely found in the dining hall for every meal and then some. sometimes he goes into Kirkwall and drinks too much. he eats everything and anything. he sets tiny fires for fun.

RP & CR WISHES: Matthias is on a quest to be legitimate and to have everyone take him seriously. my personal pursuit is, I want to do more with how actually bad he is at being a well-rounded mage, in that he basically knows only fire magic and is secretly a little embarrassed about it--so learning new magic, getting put in a situation where he has to confront that a different sort of magic might be better, etc. and I want to heal someone VERY disastrously. I want some trouble.

ELEVATOR PITCH: Reptilian Rifter, knowledge cleric, and rogue with a chip on his shoulder and a magical black cat named Thot.
ON DUTY: Often out on field missions as a stock representative of the Research division. Will occasionally provide support on missions for other departments that could use the aid of a healer or benefit from his air of boring legitimacy. Partnering with him directly on a mission or job is the easiest in for CR with him.
OFF DUTY: Dick is reclusive within the Gallows; he takes his meals back to his quarters and rarely uses his crystal. He can occasionally be found prying in the library at night, or in other odd places at odd hours: spending time with Athessa’s giant bat in the griffon roost, practicing with a crossbow in the training yard, or rummaging in paperwork.
CONVERSATION TOPICS: Let’s talk about you, or the ethics involved in dispatching ghouls before they become ghouls, or the dissection of fade-touched eels, or the meaninglessness of discretion in an organization that rewards you for healing its people by keeping easily accessible notes on your heretical magics.
RP & CR WISHES: He’s still recovering from dream plot drama with a kind of fake-it-until-you-make-it mentality overshadowed by lingering existential despair. I’d like to do some bucket of cold water splashing to help shock him the rest of the way out of it. Dire straits and frank conversations he can’t close a door on or guess I’ll die his way out of. He will also be happy to explain to new arrivals what they have to look forward to within Riftwatch.
