Every member of Research receives a handful of sparklers, and no further instructions.

At some point during the day, when Tony's office is unoccupied – because doing it overnight would be creepy – his door is given the seventh floor treatment. In particular, it no longer sticks.

The door to the living space is given a surface hardware polish and otherwise left alone.

definitely ensues a comedy moment of moving through it and then reversing, suspiciously testing it out, turning in a circle, before deciding he doesn't need to know.

In a similar colour to whichever coat she might have seen him wear, Tony receives an elaborate Orlesian hat, with a wide, tilted brim, the interior almost beret-like flopping sideways, and adorned with a spray of peacock feathers.

If you don't want to wear it, I think it would look famous on your golem.

Tony gets - a ballad. Specifically, a ballad about him, in which the balladeer sings of the cleverness and heroism of the phenomenal Provost of Riftwatch. Many of the events listed out are invented, but they sound plausible.

It can't be directly traced back to Byerly - but the fact that the ballad follows the tune of one of the songs that Tony sang might well be a tip-off.

Tony finds a jar of blueberry preserves and a wrapped section of some of Jude's bread. The jar has a little scrap with an M carefully written on it.

A square wooden box roughly forearm length in every direction and clearly designed for long distance travel. Inside is a bunch of straw, a collection of metal odds and ends, a large gear mechanism, various pins and pegs, a relatively complicated clock face, and a set of clock hands one of which is clearly designed to resemble Tony's cool anchor-charge gauntlet.

Accompanying the detritus is a pamphlet with a drafted diagram and assembly instructions (all in Wysteria's mark-making and/or handwriting, obviously) for the clepsydra water clock.

The note reads, 'It's not at all as impressive as other sorts of timepieces, as well you know, but it does work and I don't think the design is poor at all. Though by all means please do recommend and or make improvements should you find them. Which I thought would be more easily done if I gave it to you in pieces, to say nothing of the enjoyment that I trust you'll derive from putting it all together.

predictably this bitch loves a project. in the next week or so, the clock is properly on display in his office behind his desk. a couple of improvements have been made, but the basic premise has been honoured. the most notable modification is that it can be set to chime on the mark of preset hours.

In Tony's box is a palm-sized wrapped package. Inside is a wide-mouthed glass jar of some yellow, streaky substance that he'll probably recognize quickly as volcanic sulphur.

Delivered to the Provost's office in the wee hours (YMMV on whether Tony is there to receive it or not) by an industrious mabari—A leather pouch, secured with string, housing something obviously square-shaped.

Upon opening, a metal box is revealed. It is comprised of many seams and seconds, with a button set into each that springs an internal clasp to pop open a different section of the box. A few minutes study reveals that there is a sequence required to get all the sections open at once (and perhaps a glimpse of a second box contained within the first, who can say without further study?) or else they simply snap closed again.

The note enclosed reads: It's meant to be taken apart.
