Character: Merrill (Dragon Age 2)
Occupation/Role: Cutest blood mage.
A/R/N/M: Twenties?, elf, Dalish, mage.
Elevator Pitch: Cutest blood mage. Merrill is bad at directions but very into the history of her people, to the point that she and her clan had a falling out (yeah, let's call it that) and she left her position as First to the Keeper. She got information from a demon (STILL NOT POSSESSED, ANDERS AND FENRIS) and used blood magic to restore an Eluvian. Since the end of DA2, she's been helping the elves in Kirkwall's alienage and arrived to the Inquisition with a group of them + a few strays they picked up along the way.
Opinions: EVERYONE IS SO INTERESTING though all non-Dalish cultures are still rather confusing to her (so much to learn!). Merrill doesn't really have anything against anybody and would also like to not fight if she doesn't have to -- but Corypheus and awful mean people mean she has to, so she'll do it.
Where They've Been: Her clan originally came from the Frostbacks before Merrill was born, then moved into Ferelden. Merrill was in the Brecilian Forest in DA:O and her clan shipped off to Kirkwall as refugees. She's been mostly in Kirkwall ever since save for excursions with Hawke.
Future Plans: Elf history things! Regular elf things! Blood mage things! Right now I'm mostly trying to get her established.
CR Desires: People willing to give her a chance once they find out about her blood magic would be cool? Otherwise, Merrill is generally still going to be pleasant even to people who are mean to her.
Anything Else:

The previous Merrill-player and I discussed Alfsigr and Merrill having known each other when they were younger, as their clans would cross paths. I am by no means holding you to this, but I would be keenly interested in keeping it if you are game. (Honest to goodness, no worries if you've no desire.)

Regardless of keeping that, I'd love for these two to swap magical knowledge. Alfie would be so interested in Merrill's justification for her use of blood magic, because she clearly is not evil! It's fascinating, okay? Anyone should see that! Right? Uh... Maybe let's not talk about that in earshot of any Templars.

Jamie's heard blood magic is bad in general, but right now I'm pretty sure any conversation would be just him being confused about the whole thing and therefore pretty open for being convinced that there's exceptions to that rule. Plus it's Merrill, and he's already getting the idea she wouldn't hurt anyone.

But that aside what do you think about them going out on an adventure and possibly getting lost for a bit at some point? He could also tell her stories about unicorns, although his stories involve him thinking they're out to kill him. But if she wants to see him gesticulate wildly while talking about how the beastie was ready to charge him, hey, he can do that.

OH MAN YES PLEASE and I don't know how his sense of direction is but Merrill's is rather close to nonexistent so getting lost is absolutely probable. and she'd like to hear about unicorns. and probably ask him if he's ever met a griffon.

He hasn't met any griffons, just large robots that look like abominable snowmen and robots that have round heads with points sticking out and robots that look like pepperpots but aren't entirely robots although he doesn't know that and metal men that have little robots that look like caterpillars but are much less cute and...well, lots of robots.

But he'll be happy to tell her stories while they're thoroughly lost together, and he can help her feel better about it by telling her that if his best friend was there they'd be even more lost! Okay, maybe not that part, even if it would be true.

Simon is of the strong opinion (despite using it once to his benefit before) that blood magic is one of those awful irredeemable things that should be done away with. I'd love for Merril to perhaps slowly change his mind...

Simon don't be a hypocrite, she has enough of those in her life. but she can definitely try!

It's hard to just forget all those years of being taught how dangerous a tool blood magic is, and it doesn't help that he's not aware of any uses for it that are actually 'good'. Please do try, Merril. Simon's a reasonable sort.

on top of definitely wanting to put merrill and dorian in a room and stepping back to watch what happens, i also have an elf relavant to her mirror-related interests (some day??). sabine is not remotely academic and sort of just accepted the reality of the eluvians and the crossroads without much context, but she would be interested in merrill's interest.

it's still fairly Sekrit but i wouldn't mind establishing crs and planting seeds and having sabine nose around experts until she has to be honest.

and you know, blood magic, it cant be that much worse than the kind of magic that sets people on fire.
