Red Templar research!

Christine will be returning soon from Emprise du Lion with a desire to find out as much as she can about red lyrium. I want her to spearhead a project to know where it originated from, how it's doing what it's doing to Templars -- everything! She will post something on the bulletin board when she returns to ask for information, but according to the mods, there are no records of red lyrium existing before Kirkwall. So I'm going to get her talking to Varric and hopefully she can convince the advisers to get a study going on just how red lyrium works by studying a piece of it!

If you're interested in getting your character to (fruitlessly) research in Skyhold's library with her, just hit up her bulletin board message or contact her via crystal. So you know where this is headed, take a look at the mod response about how to approach this project. Initially, I thought only dwarves or Tranquil could be around red lyrium, but it seems we can get some Templars and mages all up in this action! So this will be a slow burn plot, since they aren't going to uncover everything right away, and we'll probably think of additional questions for the mods along the way, but yeah, that's my little idea. Let me know if you want your character(s) to be a part of it!

Elevator Pitch: Anders is a great, peace-loving hippie sort who loves handing out flowers and-- oh, okay. Anders is possessed by the spirit of Justice and together, after losing a lot of ground and people to Templar forces felt backed into a corner and blew up this pretty big building in Kirkwall, killing the Grand Cleric and a couple hundred other people, you might have heard of it. Whoops. He's the very image of why the system as it is doesn't work. Because the another very image, Karl Thekla, is sorta very dead.

Opinions: Anders and Justice both strongly believe that no person should be punished for the sake of how they were born. Anders is most concerned with mages where this is concerned, but Justice definitely extends it to everyone. This means they have serious issues with the Chantry and with the Templar Order.

As far as who Anders wants to fight? Basically everyone. He'll pick a fight about blood magic, he'll pick a fight about people trying to simply follow orders... but he also needs to keep his head down for a time here so he's trying very, very hard to not be quite so argumentative. He might get an ulcer.

Race-wise, Anders has an issue with the Qunari because of the way they sew mage mouths shut.

Where They've Been: Born in the Anderfels, hauled to Kinloch Hold (Ferelden's Circle,) wandered through Denerim, all over the Deep Roads, the Free Marches, stayed a bit in this little town called Kirkwall... basically he's been all over the map.

Future Plans: So here's the current deal with Anders:

For these first few months, Anders will be keeping his head down and doing his best to avoid detection as he uses the alias of Detlef*. This is so that he can earn some goodwill and make some friends before the reality of his identity comes out because otherwise it would be a fast trip to execution.

After he's got this good will his fake identity will fall apart somehow, whether it be he stupidly goes off on a rant that reveals too much about himself or walks facefirst into Cullen/Fenris/Cade/who have you. Either is fitting, considering how many times the Templars recaptured him...

CR Desires: Once his fake id slips he'll have buckets upon buckets of negative CR, so really what I'm hoping for is some positive that will last through the reveal. If everyone hates his guts it will likely get exhausting to play with.

He's going to be healing fairly regularly, and he's willing to teach mages not just healing, but herbalism and how to make do when there's a lot of hurt people around and you're the only healer.

Anything Else: *Detlef is listed as a common Anders name in one of the World of Thedas books, and it turned out to be too goofy to resist.

Occupation/Role: She's a mage healer now studying to become a spirit healer under Adelaide's tutelage.
A/R/N/M: 25, Human, Orlesian, mage

Elevator Pitch: She's a former Circle mage who was one of the rebels at Redcliffe taken in by the Inquisition. She's against any kind of violence and prefers to heal wounds as opposed to inflict them, though if push comes to shove, she would defend herself (most likely, she'd lock an opponent in Force Field and run away). Her life at Montsimmard wasn't nearly as harsh as those in other Circles faced, but it still felt like a prison she knew she couldn't escape. For now, she's hoping with all her heart that the new Divine (when she's elected) doesn't shove them all back into the Circle with the Templars acting as they always did.

Opinions: As a mage, she absolutely supports their freedom and believes they should govern themselves. She is completely against any mage going mad with power and/or hurting others. They give the rest of them a bad name. There were elves in the Circle and she has no strong negative opinions on them. Sometimes she gets that kneejerk Orlesian reaction when she sees an elf acting above a servant, but she certainly doesn't say anything out loud. Christine is Andrastian. She believes in the Maker and recites the Chant, but many times she's just going through the motions. She feels that the line "Magic should be used to serve man, never to rule over him" has given the Chantry clearance to treat mages terribly. Christine is from a small village in Orlais and then moved to the Circle. She believes Celene is the rightful ruler because the Council of Heralds chose her and beyond that, doesn't think much of politics. And she hates the Grand Game because it's full of lies and backstabbing, which is also one of the few ways mages in the Circle can have freedoms.

Where They've Been: Born in a small Orlesian village, after coming into her magic she was sent to the Montsimmard Circle and only got out when she went with the rebel mages and Fiona to vote on independence. They traveled in Orlais, and then they escaped to Redcliffe, and from there, to Haven and Skyhold. Now she's also been to the Fallow Mire and is currently in Emprise du Lion, though I will have her return by First Day.

Future Plans: Let her heal you! Either with her magic or without if your character refuses the magic bit. She is a lot less skilled in potions and poultices, and this is something I'd like for her to learn because she hates not having that knowledge.

CR Desires: I prefer positive to negative CR but I can do negative as long as it's easy to just have them walk away and not bother each other again? If that makes sense. I don't play characters who live to antagonize or seek others out just to taunt them, basically. Skipping the first interaction is cool and preferred if you just want to get to the plotty stuff. And I love plotty stuff way more than small talk or having no idea where the thread is going. As for Christine specifically, I'm down for pretty much anything? She's an easy go-to if your character is hurt, but I don't want her to just be a heals dispenser. She cares about people deeply, but as a mage, it will take her a little time to warm up because she's waiting for the knife in the back.

the renegade martel | the elenium

A/R/N/M: Early 40s, human, Elene, sorcerer.

Elevator Pitch: The quintessential charming bastard, Martel is the prodigal son who never made it home and left wreckage across a continent in his wake. In Thedas, he is slowly and quietly reinventing himself - he'll never be a nice man, but it's in his best interests and, if he's honest, maybe his preference as well to be a better one. He's been in and out the worst of himself and humanity and he has few illusions left and little patience for anything he deems pointless or foolish - but he can be startlingly kind when he's inclined to be.

Very startlingly. Given that he is still an absolute prick.

Opinions: Martel has already positioned himself in support of the mages (and their Council), sort of by default - he is himself an exile sorcerer, he's experienced (from a few angles) religious persecution or control of magic, and he's sympathetic to their situation. While he has more in common with the Templars and has no quarrel or objection to them, he figures he's got a better shot of building himself a place with the mages. He is increasingly PRO ELF RIGHTS. He will fight elf enemies if they want. Or just keep rescuing their horses and finding them fascinating. He's spent a lot of time researching Thedas in the library and then building on that basic knowledge, he is very interested in everything around him. He's disinterested in the religion except as it offers context to the world (he doesn't question that their gods exist; all the gods, probably, whatever), and he's resentful of feeling he needs to learn the lay of the political landscape. But, you know. He does.

He'll fight anyone. He'll kick his own ass.

Where They've Been: Martel has pretty much just been in Skyhold.

Future Plans: His general development arc is SLOW, UGLY REDEMPTION ARC - he is starting to warm up to a couple of people, share some things about himself, but while he's managed not to outright lie about his history yet, he will probably have to either do so or be more honest than he wants to be. And he really doesn't want to be honest about it at all! But I will force that out sooner or later.

CR Desires: HAHA DISCLAIMER: idk if I've said it enough but Martel is a dickhead. I won't take it personally if your character correctly observes this fact, and I promise that the views of this giant jackass do not reflect mine. But I would love CR! I would like to build him some positive CR that I can potentially ruin with revelations of his megalomaniacal history, get him more involved in things, touch mages with his foreign sorcerer fingers. He makes a good paternal mentor, as long as you don't mind the Tough Love approach to learning! And if you just want to be like "that guy, kind of a dick", also fine. He has rubbed people the wrong way, it's nbd.

Elevator Pitch: Adelaide is an Orlesian Spirit Healer of a noble family with finite patience for fools, far too many injured to tend to, a small flock of apprentices and mages from The White Spire that have come to the Inquisition from Andoral's Reach along with her to mind, a wry demeanor and a heaping helping of PTSD courtesy of the events of Dragon Age: Asunder. She works hard to heal those that come to her, to continue the education of her wards, and to keep far from Templars if she can help it. If not, to remain civil. Since Arriving she's become a member of the Inquisition's Mage Council and is struggling with how to handle that in a balanced and civil manner. It is a work in progress. Being of a more moderate viewpoint means playing peacekeeper and urging compromise from both sides of the discussion- it's. Stressful.

Opinions: Mages are her people for better or for worse. She teaches those that come to her and remains infinitely frustrated with the violent outbursts from pockets of apostates. There is a better way to handle this, they are in a position to do BETTER than they have before and need to take the opportunity granted with both hands.
Templars are all but triggering for her due to the events in the white spire. They leave her frustrated and formal at best and outright hostile at worst. Her ability to extend the benefit of the doubt or any trust is slowly being rebuilt and for the sake of appearances and harmony, she's attempting to work with them. Attempting being the operative word.
The Chantry She used to believe in their laws and regulations but then- well. The spire. Now she thinks they're full of shit, all pretty words and empty promises.
Elves Some of her best students have been, as well as one mentor. They are no less capable and the inequality is baffling to her but she knows damn well it's not he place to say anything on it.
Dalish are impassioned, opinionated, and infuriating. She wants to work with them in the council, she truly does, but a way to do so without coming off as condescending isn't possible just yet.
Dwarves Make amazing things but she's never met one in person.
Qunari She knows more Vashoth than Qunari proper, but those she knows have left her with a positive opinion of them at least. Qunari that follow the Qun leave her wary for their treatment of mages.
Humans are stupid in large groups more often than not. Individuals are worth noting.
Politics give her a headache and yet she is now mired in them.
Rifters are as lost as the rest of them, doubly damned for the fact this isn't even their world.

Where They've Been: Raised in an Orlesian Noble Estate until her magic came about, Adele studied magic in The White Spire until the events of Dragon Age Asunder. Before that she'd be sent out to heal those that paid for her services with a guard, usually to places in Orlais or small villages in Ferelden, especially after the Blight. After the spire fell she and the remaining mages fled to Andoral's Reach and only recently traveled from there to Skyhold. She has now also been to the Fallow Mire. It was not fun.

Future Plans: Dealing with the shattering of her faith in the system and the Chantry. Working through her distrust of templars and her frustrations with apostates, learning to be both a voice of reason in the council without sacrificing her point of view for the sake of peace. Also training people in ice or spirit magics, sassing them as she heals them, and dealing with weird patients. Handling her new position of guidance for the other mages and balancing that with her own issues and prejudices. Her family is now aware that she's alive so I mean to have some noble shenanigans coming down the line. Betrothal bs and the like.

CR Desires: A little of everything would be awesome. Adele lost a lot of people and learning to reach out and have more people would do wonders for settling her. People to mind, people to argue with, to educate and be educated by, to try to remind her that she's more than just a mage or just a healer and that it's ok to love, that'd be great.

Twisted Fate

Character: Twisted Fate (League of Legends)
Occupation/Role: Mage, thief, and escape artist. Self-proclaimed entertainer.

Elevator Pitch: Twisted Fate is the worst Dalish elf you could meet. He loves boots, obtains much of his dandy fashion from around Thedas, has little interest in discovering his elven roots, and thinks a great night is playing card games, cheating a bunch, and getting money. He's a trickster, he's smug, and he's obscenely confident in himself.

Opinions: Fate thinks that mages should have the option of freedom, obviously. He's spent most of his life wandering Thedas as an apostate, so he figures that others can do it as well. The option to have a place to learn their abilities for safety would be ideal, but he knows that's impossible. All his opinions are inherently biased, of course. Dalish elves need to quit romanticizing the past and being invested purely in their own interests, and he feels immense sympathy for city elves. Dwarves in general are shrewd but not all bad, and it's easy for him to be fond of Vashoth/Tal-Vashoth. He is a bit wary of someone who calls themselves Qunari with the full meaning of the Qun. He doesn't really have a problem with humans in general. Twisted Fate does have a problem with Tevinter as a whole, and for reasons he will not explain as of yet, 'cuz you gotta have higher approval from him first. Templars really bother him and thinks they're all stuck up.

Where They've Been: Twisted Fate is from a Dalish clan in the Free Marches that often traveled along a body of water known as the Serpentine River. He has traveled across Thedas, though primarily has been to areas in the Free Marches, Ferelden, and Rivain. He has been to Tevinter a few times, more than he likes to admit, and he only wishes he's been to Orlais more than once.

Future Plans: I do have a plot I'm working out, but it is in regard to his history in Tevinter. In addition, I would like to another round of pranks, if anyone is interested.

CR Desires: Anything! I would love literally any kind of CR. Fate has a bit of everything, but he is not terribly close to anyone, so I'm quite curious to see if he can actually develop a friendship. I'm open to negative or positive CR alike.

Where They've Been: Cullen was born in Fereldan, and then moved to Kirkwall, and then back here! So yeah, he's been nowhere.
Future Plans: I'm planning on being horribly evil to him at one point, I'm just warning everyone now. He's probably going to get hurt physically because of something or something else. I'm not entirely sure yet but you're all going to think I'm evil and I love it. Other than that, I am going to be cultivating more friendships with him and I'd really want him to just get comfortable around everyone.

Elevator Pitch: The tall mage that spends half his time at the forges. Innocent and naive at times. Not easily offended, and tends to fall off things. Very much like a mabari hound, cute but fierce.

Opinions: Sam is pretty neutral when it comes to mages and templars. He knows everyone is equally capable of both good and bad, and has experienced it from either side. No one is better than the other.

He tends to try and see the best in everyone until they prove otherwise.

Though raised Andrastian, Sam isn't interested much in religion. Obviously there are greater powers at work, and with events at the Conclave and Haven, he believes more strongly in that fact.

Politics? He's terrible at them. Or so he thinks.

He doesn't try to get himself involved very much in them. Sam isn't looking to fight anyone, save maybe the bad guys and anyone who threatens his friends. He's always up for some sparring or some sort of friendly competition.

Where They've Been: Sam is from a small fishing town in Ferelden's Coastlands. Because of the Blight his family fled to Ostwick and Sam eventually ended up at the Circle there. He went to the Conclave, but skipped out on it to visit the village instead, which ended up saving his ass. Other than Haven, Redcliffe, Emprise du Lion and Skyhold,

Future Plans: Sam hopes to further his training in becoming a Spirit Healer, and possibly some more offensive spells. Learning different skills so he knows how to fight without magic, cause you never know. Still working on his and Krem's relationship.

CR Desires: I'm pretty damn open for anything. Progressing his magic. Wouldn't mind some negative CR.

Elevator Pitch: A mage who doesn't like maging and eventually turns into a giant green rage lyrium demon.

Opinions: Bruce has opinions about things that he will never voice out because he doesn't think he is in a position to say anything in the first place given that he's 'no longer human'. He's been pointedly staying out of ALL THE POLITICS and just doing what he came here to do - that is to heal the injured and the sick. However with enough CR and prodding he might actually say something, although it'll be nicely paraphrased and vaguely neutral because he's an ass like that.

In general though he's very chill about a lot of things and is okay so long as you don't hurt other people, etc. As for religion he was formerly a very devout Andrastian, but Things Happened and now he doesn't really believe in anything except in his own angsty spiral of angst.

Where They've Been: Everywhere!! Barring main parts of Tevinter and Par Vollen because yeah there's no way he could get through there without something happening. He's been going around Thedas since 9:35 Dragon so anytime between then until 9:41 when the Inqusition first comes to the Crossroads since that's when Bruce joined. Of course, all pre-established CR is totally cool with me!! I love pre-established CR.

As for Hulk its been making some rounds as well as seen here. People are generally free to assume to have seen those sightings and if you want to plot things around that, feel free!!

Future Plans: Become a True Hero. Eventually. In Time. But for now just more CR and knowing more people and having everyone like him before he eventually tanks everything because Hulk.

CR Desires: ALL THE CR EVER. Bruce just needs more people that can poke him out of his hermity shell and stuff like that. He doesn't bite, I promise. He tends to be a more reacting than acting person so he def. needs more people who can be active around him and stuff like that. But like with everything, I'm super open to plotting and stuff so never hesitate to contact me to do stuff.

Elevator Pitch: He's a former time-traveling Scot (complete with kilt) who's now adjusting to his new life in Thedas, fighting demons and closing rifts with the glowing mark that's wound up embedded in his hand.
Opinions: Most of the mages he's met have been perfectly reasonable people, and seem alright to him. Unless, of course, they're the sort that like to set people's skirts on fire, then they're completely daft. :| So far he's not really all that sure about the templars, and dislikes the people who treat the other races poorly no matter who they are. This is especially true if they're treating someone poorly who is either a lassie or his friend. And Maraas-lok will knock you on your arse, but boy, what a drink.
Where They've Been: So far (in Thedas), he has been to Haven, Skyhold and the Fallow Mire. He really does not want to go back to the Mire, thanks.
Future Plans: Learning more about his mark, learning to read (which I will hopefully have something up soon), going on Adventures!, trying not to be homesick.
CR Desires: Pretty much the same as before: CR with more templars just so he can see there's more to them than just what's on the surface. Whether that's good or bad CR, well, that depends on how things go, doesn't it? In general, however, positive and negative CR is more than welcome, and he is always up to making more friends. Flirting or being talked into doing things by strong-willed stubborn lasses would be great - and everyone ever is welcome to tease him about his skirt kilt. So long as they don't mind him pulling faces, that is.

Opinions: Pro-Circle, pretty live and let live about other people and creeds (though followers of the Qun make her nervous in spite of herself), interested in - but terribly confused by - all things political. Believes in the Creators, and Andraste and the Maker.

Where They've Been: When she was young, Alfsigr travelled quite a bit with her mother's clan, where she was given the foundations of her magical training. Being the spare of the spare and unable to find a place with another clan, however, she eventually wound up left in a human village and ultimately found a permanent home at Kinloch Hold.

Future Plans: I would really love for Alfsigr to reconnect with her Dalish roots. She has a lot of mixed feelings about being cast out because of her human side. She's presented/passed as human for a very long time and is starting to want to be more open about her mixed heritage. I also want her to research spirits and the impact they can have beyond the Fade. There's all sorts of potential for trouble there that I am totally into.

CR Desires: I love positive CR, I love negative CR. I want Alfsigr to make more friends! Or maybe annoy some people with how earnest and frankly naive she can be at times.

Elevator Pitch: Kain is a dragoon, a warrior who uses airborne/wind-based attacks and fights with a large spear. He's a huge dragon fanboy and enjoys fighting them if he's given the chance. He has a dark siiiiide in him and tries hard to resist it by doing the right thing as much as possible. He's prone to backstabbing/possession BUT he is determined to behave here. Sort of moody and broody, but he lightens up when he gets to know someone well enough. He does tend to focus on Serious Business above all else though.
Opinions: So far, he thinks the templars are generally overdoing it, but that the mages still do need some kind of guidance/protection. He's pretty much in the middle/neutral and determined to stay that way. He's got no interest in political matters, anyway.
Where They've Been: He's been around Skyhold (loves the ramparts/towers), and the Emprise du Leon mission. He originally came here via a rift to the Mire which was... fun... (yuuuuck!) Anyway, I'd love to give him more traveling excuses!
Future Plans: Just getting him used to things, finding his place, etc. He's coming to terms with actually being alive again considering the way his last huge war in another world ended (yaaay Dissidia 012 and its Bad End). The Inquisition gives him a focus and purpose so far, which is something that Kain really needs. Of course, playing around with his whole traitor thing is a longterm goal, but something I'd save for the right place/time/situation (and after he's got a bunch of friends to backstab).
CR Desires: I love both positive and negative CR, BRING IT ALL. Kain makes for a great rivalry if things go that way. He can also be a loyal friend and will fight beside those he cares for without question. He loves combat and sparring, so always goes for those things. HE WOULD LOVE TO FIGHT A DRAGON. Seriously, if anyone is ever planning such a mission, this is the guy you want to take. He also totally needs to get drunk again (despite his claims otherwise), and get his ass kicked in Wicked Grace someday.

Elevator Pitch: Altus mage from Tevinter, backflipped out a window into Ferelden, middle fingers raised. Very shiny and flamboyant. A total magic nerd who disguises it in academic elitism, or the other way around. Earnestly would like the world to be saved. Closet idealist.
Opinions: The Tevinter Imperium is dreadfully corrupt, its governance masturbatory, and future bleak, and when it isn't completely terrifying and rife with murder and cruelty, it can be very silly. but it also remains the pinnacle of human society in culture, magic, technology, and history, and in dire need of redemption for these reasons. The Imperium is an informal magocracy and so Dorian's opinions of his fellow mages is less about captivity vs freedom and more on a scale of education and perspective. Human mages shouldn't be masters of the universe, sorry magisters, but they should be masters of themselves in service to the universe, and you can't do that if you're constantly afraid of yourself.

Slavery is a necessary facet of Tevinter's economy that Dorian can't see an end to and wilfully dismisses as an alternative to the crippling poverty as seen in places like Kirkwall, but give him time. All he knows about Qunari is what he's been taught and skirmishes on their borders, and so is immediately critical of what he knows and is open to learning, lacking any nationalist zeal for their natural enemies. The same goes for elves, both Dalish and city, in that he is ignorant and knows it but isn't xenophobic.

In short: he has many opinions.

Where They've Been: Dorian was born in Qarinus, Tevinter, but spent his glory adult years in the capital city Minrathous where he actually participated in court life (if as a contentious quality rather than fitting in, see: opinions), and was named an Enchanter of its Circle of Magi. Generally, Dorian has bumped around all corners of Tevinter, but has travelled further too, from Nevarra to the Free Marches to Val Royeaux, and likely other major southern cities, but he's only ever been a tourist. The last few months prior to joining the Inquisition had seen him living rough on the edges and just south of Redcliffe.

Future Plans: Continued attempts to get CR via plot missions, continued nosying in of mage business to try to shift the local political tide to something more favourable to him personally and useful to the Inquisition at large. He's probably going to hug Felix. Someone should find him feeling sorry for himself sometime. I also like writing murder of monsters.

Opinions: Mage freedom forever. She has no problem with other races, though a high dose of wariness for actual followers of the Qun. She's vaguely Andrastian in that she believes in the Maker, but doesn't care for the Chantry's methods and politics at all, or politics in general. Aside from Qunari, she has a hefty distrust of Templars and blood mages. Don't expect her to budge on any of that.
Where They've Been: Honestly, she's been all over. Anywhere except Tevinter or Seheron/Par Vollen is fair game. So if you want to have run into her from past exploits, likely with the Valo-Kas, just let me know.
Future Plans: Mostly winging it, but she REALLY wants to free the villagers at the Sahrnia quarry pronto. And she'll be plaguing the Mage Council will her unholy apostate presence, either in person or via sending crystal. Other than that, I'm pretty open!
CR Desires: Friends, lovers, not-family, give me all the positive CR! She's missing her mercenary family, and needs a substitute for that. I'd love for her to gain more friends or deepen the friendships she already has, as well as have people to flirt with/become protective over. Opinions: Taas is still uncomfortable around mages but it's getting better thanks to the more concentrated exposure to them in Skyhold. He's pretty okay with other races and doesn't hold any specific prejudices towards any of them. He's agnostic but still carries some of the Qun philosophy, not really seeing it as anything bad - just the 'not allowed to fight anymore' part. Okay with other religions, even if they confuse him a bit. Doesn't care much about politics and strategies isn't his main thing. Wants to fight everything, of course.

Where They've Been: Originally from Par Vollen and spent some time in Seheron, ran off from the Qun and was a bit of a Tal-Vashoth stereotype in the Tevinter outskirts before setting himself straight. Later traveled through a large part of Thedas with different body-guarding jobs.

Future Plans: Getting him into the missions and whatnots now that he has actually joined the Inquisition permanently. He's more than happy to be the token muscle at any event, and also enjoys helping people get rid of stress via sparring. Or, you know, other things.

CR Desires: Up for anything, including negative CR! Feel free to also bypass shit and say they briefly met in the bar or something (just clue me in on it). He's pretty easy-going unless you're a complete dick.

Elevator Pitch: Alayre Sauveterre is an annoying admirable Templar hailing from Orlais who blindly places his faith in the Maker's Will and that of others. He's like a living oxymoron to what others view Templars to be and upholds a certain level of conduct unrecognizable by those native to Thedas. Alayre is a complex individual who honestly seems to be the epitome of equanimity but is known to be too idealistic at times.

Opinions: Alayre's opinions about the Templar and Mages issue here at the Hold are slightly sour at times. He understands the Mages are justified in their demands for reform but sometimes he's hesitant to comply. On the other hand, Alayre knows fundamentally that change is desperately needed in order for the Inquisition to function as a unified force. In a sense, Alayre finds himself constantly swaying back and forth in the issue and seeks some sort of compromise to appease both parties.

Though in all due honesty, Alayre is honestly a tad frustrated these days due to this very issue.


Where They've Been: The Tower of Pharos is a remote tower hidden within the forests of the Applewoods near the magistrate city of Servault. For any character hailing from Orlais, especially Mage and Templar, some may have heard of it. Pharos was known to be quite beautiful but that beauty paled in comparison to the madness that ensued there. While it was better than most other towers, rumors regarding Knight-Commander Villeneuve's reign lingers. Alayre was Captain during that time.

Future Plans: I don't have any specific plans for Alayre just yet but it's my desire to see him grow more as an individual. He's quite heavily involved in his faith and seems quite used to the roles of leadership. I would like for him to continue along this path and eventually become a worthy enough leader in the eyes of others.


CR Desires: Both positive and negative CR is greatly welcomed to help me explore his character further.

Anything Else: Nothing else, I think other than he did arrive to Skyhold with fifteen Templar hailing from Pharos. They're all quite noticeable and usually stick to their native tongue except for a few. Alayre's men are quite nationalistic at times and sometimes just plain rude. Like snobby wannabe cultured bastard rude. It also should be noticed that Alayre's men take sport in making fun if Fereldans, so have fun with that! (^_^)

Elevator Pitch: Kitty is a deeply angry revolutionary who is intensely worked up about class issues and about freedom. A low-caste dwarva girl growing up in the Tevinter Embassies, she got kicked out after nearly sparking a diplomatic incident and then proceeded to immediately join up with an anti-mage group in Minrathous. After her group was tricked, betrayed, and destroyed, she started moving south, dodging the war as best she could and eventually joining up with the Inquisition. She's starting to get comfortable in the Inquisition, a bit - she still doesn't trust much of anyone, which means that she keeps up the cheerfulness and tries to seem like nothing more than a sweet young thing, but she's starting to relax. Also she is intensely nerdy for learning and wants to read everything and will scam for books. Also she is sort of a stupid teenage girl who has a lot of emotions all the time and doesn't really know how to deal with them because teenagers. Also she really likes laughing and teasing people and so the facade of being really sweet isn't 100% a facade even though she thinks it is.
Opinions:
NOBLES AND HIGH-BORN: Ugh. Hereditary nobility is a blight on the face of Thedas. They ought to be stripped of their titles and power should be evenly distributed amongst the working classes.
TEVINTER: UGH. Slavery is an even bigger blight on the face of Thedas and must be destroyed.
DWARVES: She misses her people. :( And also deeply distrusts her people. :(
ELVES: So interesting! So defensive. She just wants to find out everything about them.
MAGES: ???? She just had a conversation with Anders where he really laid out for her how awful things are in the Circle, and obviously she's heard a fair amount about the Suckiness of Circles from the mages in the Inquisition, so while she has that knee-jerk hatred of Tevinter mage tyranny she also feels deeply conflicted and ambivalent.
WARDENS: They're weirdly cute???
Where They've Been: Kitty is from Tevinter, lived for a few years as a thief/rebel in Minrathous, and has been traveling largely in Orlais. It's not impossible that she stole from your character if they were ever in Tevinter, and it's not impossible she's bartered with your character on the road from Orlais.
Future Plans: I've said this before and then fell down on it because of real-life stuff but I'd love to get Kitty into scouting!! Spying, et cetera. I'd really like to have her run missions.
CR Desires: I'd really love people who can get past her bubbly surface - her chipperness is about 55% fake and 45% real, so anyone who could get at her truer personality of being fairly angry and outspoken would be so cool. Which doesn't necessarily mean negative CR - she often responds to passion with passion. So, angry people, basically, is what I want. Also super into dwarf CR. Also into CR with people her age! She's a wee teenager surrounded by actual grown-ups, which is like the reverse of most RPs. Opinions:
Mages: If they are going to be out on their own, so be it. However their educational program best be considerable and they should know that any blood mages or dangerous rogues will be taken out with extreme prejudice. They want to be free, fine, just ... don't be useless. Do something good. You have the power to make real positive change. Magic was meant to serve man not rule over him. First Enchanter Lydia should be your example.
Elves: He would truly like to know why no elf has never been made a Templar, or what the Dalish equivalent of the Templar order is. Clearly their mages are less of a danger. How is that? What can the Templars learn from them? Sure they worship weird gods but at least they worship something.
Dwarves: Great warriors, defenders from the bottomless pit of darkspawn, giver of lyrium. What's not to like? And they worship something. Go them.
Magisters: ... Oh he KNOWS most of you use blood magic. He will dispel your f'ing faces off before he cuts off your heads. Hate Magisters.

Where They've Been: Norrington and his men are from the Free Marchers, more specifically the Ostwick Circle, which everyone will agree was probably the biggest socialist circle of all. After that DAMNED ROGUE APPRENCTICE WHO NORRINGTON WILL HUNT DOWN killed the First Enchanter (sob) and Knight Commander Swann (sooooob). Since then has been traveling through most parts of Thedas trying to hunt down that damned rogue apprentice to avenge the death of his Circle parents. Going to the Inquisition now because that's where the real Chantry is.
Future Plans: Norrington is going to work on the Templar Representation, training both his people and Cade and any other Templar in either learning how to fight magic or how to become better at it.
CR Desires: Figure all the positive and negative CR you can manage. Anyone who wants to talk about the Chantry, anyone who wants to try and get Norrington to actually laugh (seriously his face might be stuck that way.). I'll take the negative CR as well - he's a Templar! - but I would love to build that to be begrudging respect on both sides.

Elevator Pitch: Qunari spy sent to Orlais to pretend to be a rowdy, hedonist mercenary and gather intel. Might be growing into his cover story a little too well. Really likes hitting things.
Opinions: The Qun works as a religion and a political standpoint because everyone knows their place, and is working toward the betterment of the community. Bull's seen life without the Qun and the personal failings that emerge when you aren't being kept in line every step of the way. He's also a little concerned where he might be personally if he didn't have the Qun holding him in check. It's not perfect, but it's a better system than any he's seen.

He does feel for the plight of the mages, especially those trying to make a good life for themselves and others, but he doesn't trust magic. Or the Fade. Or demons. Especially demons. So he's wary of just letting mages run around doing whatever they please. Again, systems of accountability and security are important to him, and mostly just for the fact that people should be able to feel safe.

He doesn't really have an opinion where other races are concerned. People are people. Anyone from Tevinter can pretty much go fuck themselves until they're proven an exception to the rule, though. Too much bad blood there. And he really doesn't care for Tal-Vashoth.

Where They've Been: Par Vollen, Seheron for about eight years on the job, and then throughout Orlais. Met up with the Inquisition in Ferelden, traveled the Free Marches and parts of Tevinter...he's been around.
Future Plans: Eventually he's going to settle up where the Qun and the Chargers are concerned, but I'm in no real rush for that to happen. He'll do his thing, spy and drink and fight and party, and hide what a mess he is inside. The big softie.
CR Desires: Bull's pretty civil with most people, but if you've got beef with the Bull, bring it. I can dig on some serious negative CR, and I'm pretty sure most of the Vashoth in Skyhold are not happy having Bull around. Also flirting? Totally down with flirting, too.

Opinions: Maxwell's pretty easy going and believes in giving everyone a chance to speak for themselves (he grew up without such a chance, so it's pretty important to him). Mages, dwarves, elves, Qunari, whatever the hell you are, so long as you're a good person, you'll be fine.
Where They've Been: He's from Ostwick, where his family's main estate is, but he's traveled some. Including one notable excursion to the Grand Tourney in which he competed.
Future Plans: I'm hoping to have Maxwell really deal with his family. He does not want to go back, so some support to give him the courage/strength, plus those would be willing to help get them off his back somehow.
CR Desires: I'm pretty easy going and totally cool with just throwing characters together to see how things stick. So if you're thinking "I wonder if..." go for it. Chances are it'll be cool.

Elevator Pitch: Simon is a circle mage with a few layers of dark and uncomfortable secrets. Most know that he takes care of his sister who is 'unwell', and that he joined the Inquisition looking for sanctuary for them both while he works on curing her. Few might know that his sister is unwell because she is a mage and was experimented on by unscrupulous Tevinter Magisters, from whom Simon rescued her. No one knows exactly how exactly he accomplished this or that it involved learning blood magic.
Opinions: Being a mage he's rather pro-mage himself, favoring reforming and reinstating the Circle and Templar Order, with heavy emphasis on reform. He's aware that Cumberland Circle was very nice compared to most other circles, and believes that if all of them could be like his things would be much better. He's most familiar and comfortable with elves from the few he's met in his own circle, though he's still a bit awkward around the Dalish. Dwarves he's not familiar with at all beyond some passing stereotypes, and while he's met some Qunari in the Inquisition he still knows jack all about the Qun itself, as everything he heard about it in Tevinter was so horrible he believes it couldn't really be true. The Imperium is at war with the Qunari, after all, and has been for ages. Simon is a comfortable Andrastian, though he's more of the opinion that 'the Maker helps those who help themselves' and tends not to bother much with prayer. On a whole Simon is pretty moderate to conservative, but if the rules that he likes ever start to apply too strongly to River then he's likely to kick off and start a fight. Otherwise he avoids them as best he can, not wanting to come under too close a scrutiny. It's worth nothing that in spite of having to save River from the Imperium, doesn't have a negative opinion on 'vints on a whole. He wouldn't have been able to get her out without the help of other Tevinter mages, after all.
Where They've Been: Simon's been quite a few places. From his home in Cumberland he hurried North to the Tevinter Imperium for a few years, working on saving River. After which he and his sister fled back South (at one point crossing the Waking Sea by purchasing passage Malcolm Reynold's ship) to hide/join the Inquistion as soon as he heard about it.
Future Plans: Simon's biggest goal right now is to find a way to stabilize River at the very least, this would also open them both up to start taking war table missions. The plan right now is for Simon to learn about how the Qunari handle their mages and adapt a more humane version of their collars, which would involve a player plot to go out and find one to study. Also, at some point, I'd like the fact that the Tams are being hunted to come up and bite them in the butt.

Opinions: he's actually pretty cool with everyone. growing up as he did has given him a lot of tolerance and while also giving him the chance to meet all sorts of people, and he's easygoing enough to have very few strong opinions. but he's also very irritating and also be nice to his friend or he might start a flashy fight with you. and then run away.

Where They've Been: He's from Antiva City! Where he had a prosperous criminal career for ten years before a wee critical error. Future Plans: recently committed an act of petty thievery, without Rafael's help. ill-advised. might suffer some consequences soon. he will do anything to get socks. he's going to be involved with Warden stuff like it or not (he doesn't like it). also he'll still fetch anything upon request, price negotiable (socks please)

CR Desires: he's a Warden but he's bad at behaving himself. I kind of want him to get better. people to encourage that would be cool. teach him how to spell maybe. admire his skills at the lute. assumed CR is great. people to irritate, great. negative CR, great. and if you want your socks to have gone missing, or socks to give away, he's your guy.
